As brand spankin' new DVC members, my little family has started discussing where we want to stay for our very first vacation as DVC members. Our home resort is Saratoga Springs, but we are thinking we'd like to try Boardwalk. Our most recent trip was spent at WL, so we don't want to do the villas just yet.

Any suggestions, and why? Our kids are 10 and 6 and are Disney veterans!

Thanks! :)

Tosie you didn't state when you would be vacationing, the seven month window may be a factor depending on when you plan to go.

We just switched our 3rd trip (last June and this Dec are at SSR) to BCV as it's normally the hardest to get into.

I would suggest always booking your dates ( if they are hard and not flexable)at your home resort then at the 7 month mark try to switch.

With those ages I would do BCV then BWV as you can walk or boat over to the BW and enjoy it there but can't use SAB if staying at the BWV.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the DVCs.

We haven't decided on dates yet. We officially get our points on 12/1/06. We THINK it will be in late Sept-early Oct or possibly Jersey week in November. But we've never been to WDW in November - we have friends who are just getting home this weekend so we're waiting to hear what their Jersey week experience was like, LOL!

Late Sep/early Oct will probably be very difficult to secure a ressie @ BWV using the 7-month window as the Food and Wine Festival will be in full swing and many members will be attending. Both Epcot DVC resorts stay pretty busy during the months you have listed because there are so many activities going on for the holidays.

I think it's nice to have your very first trip dedicated to your home resort. There will always be trips in the future to try other DVC properties.

I agree. Have that special first DVC trip at your home resort to create those special memories there! You will bond with the resort and it will always be your home!

I recomend staying at your "home" resort for your first trip "home". We did this in March at SSR and loved it. Our next trip is planned for BWV (leaving in 5 days). I plan on staying at all the vacation clubs, BUT my first trip "home" was special.

Book home....call at seven months and see what is open and switch if it appeals.

The time frames you are talking about can be tough at seven months for the Epcot resorts, but if you waitlist and call right away, you might not have any problems.

I also agree to try your home resort first, get the feel of your home and then try the others. Booking at the 7 month window for BWV will be tough beacuse of the popularity of theF&W when you own at SSR. You can still enjoy the F&W staying at SSR. Congratulationss

Okay...starbox, lisareniff, bradpga, and DeadHead beat me to it. I am a firm believer in staying at your home resort on your first DVC vacation. You will begin creating new WDW memories that will be tied to your home resort and will make it an even more special place for you and your family.

Your kids will love the theme pool and the community hall. Good luck in your decision. :)

Maybe I just got lucky, but I was offered a choice of BWV, VWL, OKW or SSR for my trip this Oct 4-8 at 45 days or so out. I was suprised, considering my dates included times when F&W and MNSSHP were in full swing. I inquired about a studio so not sure if any larger villas were available, but I was given all days available for my dates at the above resorts. BCV only had some of the dates open. I went with VWL.

I agree.

you will be a member for years - plenty of time to try the other DVC resorts.

but if your first trip is to your home resort - then you can reestablish why you brought there and enjoy to its fullest. because it is your HOME!!!

get fully familiar with it...
