Fellow cruisers and veterans,
Debating over the excursions on St. Maarten and St. Thomas. Some of the things our daughter who is 7 cannot do. We are tentatively booking the Doubloon Sail/Snorkel on St. Thomas. It snorkels off of Buck Island. WOuld one of the other snorkel trips be better? Would we rather take one of the ones to St. John instead?? If so, which one?PLEAASE HELP!
ALso, we are in St. Maarten a littel longer, so we were thinking of doing the America's Cup Regatta (without the kids) in the morning and then going back to get the kids for the day and maybe taking a taxi to a beach? WE tried to do the Golden Eagle with the kids after the Americ'a Cup Regatta thing, but they wouldn't let us book them both.
Is the snorkeling better at St, THomas or St. John or Buck Island or St. Maarten???

THANKS!!

Laura

From what we understand, snorkeling on St. Maarten is a little iffy. When we were there all snorkeling excursions were cancelled. I think it has to do with the location of the island - it's not sheltered by other islands and so the wind and seas kick up a lot of sand and cuts the visability down. It sounds like this happens frequently.

I can't speak for snorkeling on St. Thomas or Buck Island, but its magnificent at St Johns.
