We are thinking about going back to Florida December this year on a twin centre break, 1 week at QI Plaza and 1 week at Wilderness Lodge. We have never been to the coast area and were wondering if you would recommend taking a drive to St Petes area and spending the day there?:confused3

st petes nice but i never been there in year last time i was there was in 1991.
from what remember i had a good few days there.

I spent a week at St Pete's on a twin centre holiday but that was around 1995. I don't remember anything other than spending nice relaxing days on the beach and a trip or two further afield.

If I remember correctly, I stayed at the Sandpiper. The head chef was a massive Boston Celtics fan and was so intrigued by my Glasgow Celtic jersey that he gave me free dining for the week in exchange for it.

We staed at St Petes last July and going again this July, not sure about december.
Its more a relaxing time down there , not sure i would head there during winter months as there is not a lot to do, but the Gulf area is nice .

We spent the day at Clearwater a couple of years ago, which is pretty near St Pete's. Not masses to do about from the beach, but a nice, relaxing change of pace for a day!

St petes is lovely, I just the the coast down there, not a lot to do, busch gardns:thumbsup2 might be pretty cool.
I never made it last trip, need a fix soon.!

not to sure how Dec will be
we spend a lovely week there Aug 97
and we went again for the day a few years back took about an hour and a half drive I think
remeber the lovely sunsets on the beach each evening

Love love love St. Pete. Great drive down, relaxing day on the beach, wonderful sunset, wildlife etc. The perfect tonic after days of busy parks.

Spent a day there last August. Beaches are lovely.
Great easy drive to and from Orlando.
Not sure about December weather - not a lot apart from the beach, but a great relaxing non-theme park day.

Dont forget to check out St johns pass at St Petes..its like a boardwalk with restaurants and shops. There are also dolphin trips, fishing trips and Captain kidds pirate adventure cruise that my 8yr old just loved...it was so much fun. Check out the shipwreck store...its very cool. They let you hold a cannon ball from a ship about 400 years old. Its just so pretty to walk along in itsself.
