We will be in Orlando Dec. 4-11 and then are taking our daughter to see the ocean for the first time through the 13th.

Should we take her to Daytona Beach or St. Petersburg? Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated! Is there one side that will be warmer than the other?

St.Petes , it is further than Daytona but it gets my vote because the beach is so much nicer.
Pure white sand.

If you go look out for the Sunshine Skyway bridge across the bay - worth the trip alone.

It will be warmer in St. Pete, although travelwise Daytona will probably be easier. Cocoa is probably the closest and easiest to get to. Are you planning on swimming or just playing on the beach?

Another vote for St. Pete. Go to Pass-A-Grill and have lunch at the Hurricane.

Super! I think that decision is made! Thanks! Now, any recommendations on lodging? Of course we want oceanfront and nice, but doesn't have to be luxury.

There are a lot of small motels and HUGE hotels and resorts depending on what stretch your looking at booking. I usually stay near St. Johns Pass - I have rented from JC Resorts, a week condo rental at the RamSea II - VERY NICE corner condo, was right on the beach with a pool and hot tub - the trolly runs up and down the beaches for a small fee. The motels can be more economical, but some are pretty cheesy and some have not been updated since the 1950's. Search AAA or Hotels.com for your budget and you should be okay.

If you want the Ocean, then it has to be Daytona,

St. Pete is the Gulf of Mexico

Just my two cents, but I also live 5 min from Daytona and Love the ocean :rotfl:

St.Petes is a better beach though.

Irregardless of beach quality, I have always prefered the Gulf, it's warmer and calmer. JMHO.
