I posted this before, but it disappeared.

Anyway, we are flying into Tampa and out of St. Pete. I have never used St. Pete. Anyone have any good/bad opinions?

St. Petersburg - Clearwater International Airport is a wonderful airport located directly across Tampa Bay from Tampa International Airport. It's easy to get into, you can drop everyone off at the terminal entrance and if you have a rental car you're returning, all the companies are located close by. The airport facilities are small, but modern. I assume you're departing on a different airline than you flew in on, since no airline operates out of both airports at this time.

From the Tampa side you'd exit I-275 southbound onto westbound SR 688/Ulmerton Road (Exit #31B) and drive about 3 miles and then take the right exit ramp onto SR 686 westbound. The airport will then come up immediately on your right. From the St. Pete side you'd exit I-275 northbound at Exit #30 onto westbound SR 686. This merges into SR 688/Ulmerton Road, you continue for one mile and then SR 686 continues at the right exit ramp described above. Signage to locate the airport is also good if you'd rather not remember all these state road numbers.

THanks. We are flying into Tampa on Delta and out of St. Pete on Allegiant.

St. Pete is one of the easiest airports to get around that I have ever been in. We flew into St Pete for our Disney vacation in May and we probably will use St Pete for our next Disney trip. Allegiant times are better for us at St Pete than in Sanford.

USA3000 is a sister company to Apple Vacations and is used by Apple for many of their holiday flights to Florida and the Caribbean. Many of their planes (all Airbus A320's) are charter flights but they do offer scheduled services to Florida. Most scheduled services are not daily. If the price is good I would use them.

DW and DD used USA300 last February to St. Pete.

They said it was the best airline they've ever flown.

Interesting aside, they flew out of EWR on the day that Jetblue left all those passengers stranded in JFK. They were only delayed 1½ hours, and for EWR that's practically on time :rotfl:
