I am looking to book a couple of nights at St Petes Beach during our trip to Florida in October.

Can anyone recomend a good hotel in the area?

Thanks

Phil.

Hi Phil, the resorts that are recommended quite a lot on the boards for St Petes are pretty pricey. You have the top notch Don CeSar and also the Tradewinds.
Some while ago the Howard Johnson was recommended - more moderately priced than the above, but I haven't seen any recent posts about the Howard Johnson.

Hopefully someone will come up with an alternative for St Petes.

....... the link to Don CeSar's doesn't work so you could check out www.flausa.com and on the St Pete's Beach page Here

Click on Listings under the heading 'Accommodations'.

When I booked for Sarasota and for Clearwater Beach I checked out the hotels in the Virgin and BA brochures to see what ratings they gave them, and then found them on-line and booked them that way.

However, you can't beat personal recommendations - so as I said, I hope someone will give you some alternatives :)

Hi Phil,

Last year we stayed at the Holiday Inn & Suites on St. Pete beach. I think its about $100 a night in October.

Its a large round hotel and we had a room with 2 king beds overlooking the ocean. There was fridge and coffee making facilities, iron / ironing board, hairdryer, safe etc.

The pool and sun terrace isn't very big, but its right on the beach and we would stay there again.

There's a revolving restaurant at the top which gives you great views of the beach and bay, and Bahama Mamas bar on the beach.

Their web site is www.holidayinnflorida.com

We've used the Holiday Inn St Pete's (as above) a few times - love it. Best placed for views, restaurants, beach - everything:D

We're staying at Tradewinds for a week after 10 days at WDW in November. Can't give you any opinions yet but it sounds
good! Check out their website

www.tradewinds.com

Hope this helps

Christi,
Which of the Tradewinds resorts are you staying at? Two years ago we stayed at The Island Grand which was very nice especially the one bedroomed Gulf view suite that we were upgraded to.
Any question regarding the hotel or surrounding area I will be happy to reply to if I know the answer!!
Claire :D

Hi Claire,
Thanks for your post. I am really looking forward to St Petes it looks fabtastic. We are also off to the Island Grand and have a suite bt not a Gulf view one! Any tips on how to get an upgrade? I notice from their website that they have rennovated all the suites, they look fabulous!
Have you any tips on what to do in St Petes? I'm sure after 10 days in WDW I will want to relax but kids are kids and they will still be full of bounce! Did you use the kids club?
Thanks again
