St Pete beach hotel suggestions

We stayed at the Tradewinds Island Grand Beach Resort in St. Petersburg. We really enjoyed it. It is right on the beach. It has five pools, (including a kiddie pool and indoor pool), and a waterway that goes all around the resort. You can ride on paddle boats through-out the waterways. The rooms are very spacious and have mini refrigerators and microwaves in them. There are many restaurants and an outdoor bar at the hotel too. They have a full kids program also. We did not use it, but our friends did and said the kids loved it. They also have water sports and a spa center. My husband was there on a convention, so I think we paid $125/ night. I don't know what the rates are now, but you can check on their website tradewindsresort.com.:goodvibes

We stayed at the Sirata in a beachfront room with a stove and fridge but it was noisy. There were tables doen below us and everyone seemed to hang out there. Also people werer screaming and fighting in the middle of the night and we had to call security. After that one night it wss fine and they comped us for that one night. It was expensive like 200 a night. We are staying a Howard Johnson in a couple weeks and when we looked at it, it looked nicer than an average HJ. We are paying 140 for and oceanview with a balconey. We saw the tradewinds but they didn't all have balconies and they were more expensive, plus had like a 25 dollar resort fee a day. Oh and the Sirata you had to pay 8 bucks a day parking but the Hj is free parking. If you want to know anything else just PM me.

Can't say enough good things about it....my kids and I fly to Tampa a lot because we can out of BWI for $42, sometimes....do you have kids? Best absolute hotel I have ever stayed at with kids.....
As far as the rooms go, they look exactly as shown on the internet. If you want a balcony and want to save a little, get a tropical view. If you want a full kitchen and a balcony, get a tropical view suite.
As far as the kids club goes, my 7 & 8 love it!!!
If you do have kids, book the Family Adventure Package, three nights (can add more if you like), book the package and then if you want more nights, call and ask for the returning guest rate for additional nights. You can't beat that package (if you have kids.)
Let me know if you want any more information on it....we stayed three times this past spring and are going back a week in August.

My vote is for Tradewinds Island Grand. We loved it! We stayed in a suite with a kitchen and 2 bedrooms. Very nice room! Loved to paddle boats and pools. They had lots of activities there. DH and I played "the newly wed game" and we won a free dinner at one of the restuarants.

I stayed at the Sirata Beach Resort once when my husband attended work meetings there and cannot recommend it. While it had a great beach front location and the staff were all okay, some of the rooms are absolute dumps (especially in bldg #1). We originally had a room in Bldg #1, and it was dark, dirty, and the bathroom was filthy. We upgraded (at our cost) the next day to a suite with a nice ocean view, but the room was very substandard.

I also suggest the Tradewinds Island Grand. It is fantastic for kids. The Don Cesar is also lovely, but my kids didn't like it as much as the Tradewinds.

Grand Plaza right on the beach. Beautiful room. We were upgraded at check-in to an ocean view room. I think we were on about the 7th floor and it was just perfect. Kids loved it!
