St Patrick's Day - Thoughts?

Hello all!

I've previously posted about travelling from the UK to WDW in March and wondering about weather, crowds etc but it just dawned on me that in my 2018 trip, I'll be there on St Patrick's Day.

I wondered if anyone had any experience of how this affects WDW, be it positive or negative? Is there a different atmosphere? Are there bigger crowds? Is there lots to see and do specifically for this? Does everything turn green overnight?

Truthfully, I've never been that huge on celebrating St Patrick's Day. In many respects, as grinch-like as it sounds, I'm kind of hoping the impact on the parks wouldn't be that massive? Don't get me wrong though, I'm all for a pint of Guinness or two! I'd just rather not be seeing four leaf clovers everywhere everyday leading up to it and after it.

I think the bigger impact is the number of school systems that are on spring break at that time. It may be more difficult to get an ADR at Raglan Road.

On weather, I lived in Orlando for a bit of time. That year the temps were in the upper 90s. Flash forward a few years later and we had temps dropping into the high 30s on our final grad school break. That was a freak storm across much of the South. I would watch the weather and plan clothing layers. The average high is about 73 degrees.

This is really helpful, thank you Hootch. Also very handy to hear your thoughts on the weather - from everything I've heard and read, your comment included, I think that I really basically need to pack for both eventualities, being that it seems it could be very pleasant or conversely a bit chilly. As you've recommended I'll also keep an eye on the weather in the lead-up to the holiday. It's definitely reassuring that the whole St Patrick's Day celebrations aren't going to be totally overblown and in your face.
