This March 17th 2011, DTD will be holding some awesome festivities for St. Patrick's Day!

Here is what will be happening (as seen on Disneyland website) at the DTD area for this cool holiday!

Grab your shillelagh and come to the Downtown Disney District for a St. Patricks' Day celebration on March 17, 2011. The entire day will be a festival for your senses.

Search for the End of Rainbow
Somewhere in the Downtown Disney District, at the end of the rainbow, there is a golden treasure waiting to be discovered. From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., kids ages 3 to 12 can join a scavenger hunt following clues in a search of "lucky" clovers throughout the Downtown Disney District.

Emerald Accessories
Did you forget to wear green? Before you get pinched, find your way to one of the District's restaurants for shamrock-colored beads or purchase hats and boas from one of the many street carts. Kaman's Art Shoppe will have special face painting for kids and adults. For some extra luck, Build-A-Bear Workshop will be featuring a "Four Leaf Clover Bear" and The LEGO Imagination Center will be constructing 4-Leaf Clovers as well!

Live Music
Gather round the Downtown Disney District's Main Stage as the high-energy Irish folk band, Shillelagh, gives a free performance from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Lucky Libations
Guests over 21 can enjoy a bounty of beverages throughout the Downtown Disney District. Special cocktail menus will feature Irish Whiskeys, green beers, martinis and margaritas. Tune-in at the ESPNZone for the first round of the NCAA college basketball tournament.
For those who celebrate with sweets, keep on the lookout for shamrock-inspired treats!
So don your green and hoist a glass of good cheer. Everyone is Irish, at least once a year!

..ALSO! As mentioned above Uva Bar will be having a special St Patrick's Day menu. This special menu will be in effect from March 14th-19th!

the selection of irish cheese sounds awesome and that cheese dip too!! MMMMM i can't wait!

anybody see what else was in that list? anybody going to be going? it sounds super fun!

We will be there :thumbsup2! DH is half Irish so it is always a big day for us. It will be hard to drag me out of the parks but I'm sure DH will have to partake of a green beer or two:banana:. Thanks for the info.

I will be in the parks on St Patrick's day!! I would love to enjoy some festive beverages in DTD ;) but the people I will be going with don't seem like they would be into spending time in DTD :sad2: They are more into getting on as many rides as possible rather than enjoying the atmosphere. Maybe I will be able to sneak away for a while to enjoy the festivities! :woohoo:

Thanks for the info!!! It is my DS 5th birthday on St Patty's Day and have been hoping there would be something fun like this going on!! We can't wait :) We will be having lunch at Blue Bayou for lunch with a surprise treasure chest, and will head to DTD for the evening festivities! Can't go wrong with a day at the park and then Irish music and green beer :)

You know...my supervisor just called me today to say that she was changing my weekends from Tuesday/Wednesday to Thursday/Friday which means I'll have next Thursday, St. Patty's Day, off... I might consider it!

Although...remember that heated discussion we had about people sleeping on benches? I could make no promises on St. Pat's lol :shamrock::shamrock::shamrock:

I'll be there on Thursday! I've gone on St. Patricks day 4 years in a row, this is the first time I remember any actual festivities! (I could've just missed them) I'm pretty excited!

Very nice info Sara on the activities during St. Patrick's Day at the DLR. It was fun last year during St. Patrick's Day when I went solo during a business trip. This might have been fun to do.

I think it will be fun this year brett, I think I might talk one of the single girls into finding all the single hot guys at Uva bar and pinch the ones that are not wearing green!! !! :lmao: :rotfl: :shamrock::shamrock::shamrock:

**info from today on disney parks blog**

Ready to be Irish for the day? The Downtown Disney District is preparing to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on March 17 with special entertainment, kids activities, food specials and lots of green. Traditional Irish music, along with folk and rock tunes, will set the mood. With this much fun, you just might want to pinch yourself!

Not party-ready when you arrive? Before you get pinched for not wearing green, hurry to one of the many merchandise carts set up throughout Downtown Disney and grab a green feather boa or novelty bowler hat, beads and other colorful accessories for the party.

The festive atmosphere kicks into overdrive when the high energy Irish folk band Shillelagh delivers spirited songs accompanied by accordion, fiddle, and percussion on the District’s main stage at the ESPN Zone.

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day at Catal Restaurant in Downtown Disney

Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen along with the ESPN Zone, House of Blues, Catal, Tortilla Jo’s and La Brea Bakery are all offering St. Patrick’s Day drink specials including Irish whiskey, themed martinis, margaritas and, of course, green beer.

Not to be outdone, Uva Bar will feature a special menu throughout the week leading up to March 17 along with drink specials and an assortment of Irish beers. We’ve been told that even the hosts and hostesses will be getting into the act, but we don’t want to give away all their surprises.

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Build-A-Bear Workshop in Downtown Disney

Your little leprechauns can be set loose to find the Downtown Pot ‘o’ Gold in a fantastic treasure hunt. If they’re lucky enough to find the hidden clovers throughout Downtown Disney District, they could win prizes and maybe even a gold doubloon or two. Need more great reasons to follow this rainbow? Build-A-Bear Workshop and the LEGO Store will both have special four leaf clover activities and merchandise available while Kaman’s Art Shoppe will offer themed face painting and henna tattoos for adults and children.

More information can be found at Downtown Disney online. Have you spent St. Patrick’s Day or another special holiday at Downtown Disney before? What did you enjoy doing?
