So...do any of you do St. Nick Day in your house? DS is so excited he can't stand it and he has declared that he will be leaving his shoes out every night hoping for something, not just Friday night. We keep telling him that St Nick does not come until the 6th, but he is holding out hope that he might show up early...;)

So for those of you who do St. Nick in your house, what do you leave? DH and I haven't figured out what we're going to do this year yet, so I am shamelessly shopping for ideas!

As a kid, we always hung out socks. Yes, regular socks - the longest ones we could find. We'd hang them on the dining room hutch since we didn't have a fireplace - LOL!

I have my kids hang out their actual Christmas stockings. St. Nick only brings candy - and maybe a very small/inexpensive gift. I feel that it takes away from Christmas if St. Nick's Day becomes a "gift-getting" holiday.

It's always easy to remember to hang out our stockings - it is my brother's birthday.

Such a nice way to make the days between Thanksgiving and Christmas seem a little shorter!

my kids leave their shoes out (just like i did growing up) and st nick usually leaves a few small things...a chocolate santa, some gold chocolate coins, and a small toy...matchbox cars, playdoh, that kind of thing. when the kids were smaller (they are 6, 4, 4) and st nick didn't want to leave candy they got animal crackers.

we often got orange slices when I was growing up. mmmm...yum. my kids hate them, though.

We do.
Children leave out shoes by door with letters to Santa (the second part me and DH added to the old family tradition)
When the kids wake in the morning, they each get a small bag of candy as well as a personal growth letter from St. Nick

My kids get a new pair of slippers each year, with a few pieces of candy. They also each receive a holiday VCR/DVD and an ornament. Each year they hang up their ornaments on the tree and then they get packed away in their Christmas Hope chest for when they move out...

There's no one young enough here to leave shoes out any more. I do try to remember the day with some kind of treat though.

We do St. Nickolaus (sp?) at our house too. My daughter will put out one of her dad's boots and St. Nick will leave chocolate coins and other small candy. May even leave a new DVD or book if she's been behaving herself :goodvibes

St. Nick will come to our house this year, too. Growing up he came on the evening of the 6th, but he comes to some houses on the night of the 5th.

The kids always put their boots outside to be filled - because they are bigger.

St Nikolaus Day we leave out shoes. SMall gifts and candy are left by St Nick. Schwartze Peter so far hasn't left any coal or swtiches.

Absolutely! My kids get candy, small toys when they were younger, now lip smackers, mini skateboards, hand lotion, fun pencils, pens, and erasers. It's a fun day for them, helps them get through the wait till Christmas. It's also youngest dd's birthday.

I grew up getting walnuts and oranges in mine, maybe a bit of candy too.

St Nick comes to our house, which reminds me, I have to go pick up a stocking for our kitty. St Nick can't come for the kids and not the kitty!

My kids each get an ornament left in their shoes by the bottom of the stairs.

My oldest and I bought slippers and pajamas for all of them this weekend that I was going to save for Christmas, but we decided we're going to set those out as a surprise for the little ones and put the ornaments in the slippers.
