Has anyone been to St. Martin/St. Maarten lately. I'm looking into going Easter break.

I'd like some reviews of hotels. I would like an all inclusive but not necessary.

Thanks :sunny:

We stopped there on our Jan 10 Magic cruise.....least favorite island in the Caribbean......mean cab drivers and too much poverty. I felt sorry for these people as they rely on tourism but don't treat the tourists very well. I personally think you'd enjoy almost anywhere better!

Two responses:

1) the DCL board is probably not the best place to request info on ST. Martin all-inclusives.

2) I think the previous reply is a bit harsh. There are some very nice parts on the island, especially the resorts. Yes, it is not perfect, but there are mean cabbies and poverty in the U.S. also.

Look at major chain hotel websites and see if they have a property there...Hyatts, Wyndhams, etc. Sorry I'm not more help.

Just got back from Jan 10 7 night eastern cruise and my family and I hated every minuter we spent in St Martin. The island is very poor and the people are nasty. We talked to other people on the cruise and they all seemed to agree. We will go on another eastern cruise again but we will stay on the ship when they dock in St. Martin.

By the way, St. Thomas and St. John was paradise! The islands we clean and the people were super nice!!!

Having just returned as well... we loved the semi submarine ride but the bus ride there was scary. Driving on that island is WILD

I would be leery about renting a car on the island. Their motto is "the biggest vehicle" has rightaway!

Looked like a bunch of neat French restaraunts and such but I agree, St. Thomas is more beautiful.

If you want something fun to do while in St. Martin for the day, check out Anguilla. We went last summer. It was beautiful. We chartered a boat and went over. Check out their site at www.offshoresunsations.com. If you e-mail them, tell them you saw the post on the Disboards from Doogierunner.
