A while back a thread was posted about a stable in St. Martin responding to e mail inquiries, by email that Americans weren't welcome. Has anyone gone horseback riding in St. Martin lately?
Just curious of the outcome with this.

There was speculation it was the wrong e mail address and/or someone was answering the e mails without the owners knowledge.

We have a reservation to go riding at Lucky Stables on the July 26th Magic. It's on the Dutch side of St Maarten. I can let everyone know how it works out.

The stable in question was the Bayside riding club.

Wonder if they changed names and someone was playing a joke.
or if the one your going to is a different one.

I remember the post about the Bayside Riding Club. I believe it was on the French side of the island. I have exchanged many e-mails with Karen at Lucky Stables and she has been more than helpful.

I am pretty positive the previous post was not about Lucky Stables.

Only 2 weeks to go !!!!!!!!!!

We just went horseback riding last week at Bayside and had a great time. It is on the French side on Orient Beach. This was our 2nd time riding there in the last couple of years. Everyone was wonderful to us- I had no feeling of unwelcome there. As far as I know- there isn't a website for Bayside. I do know that you can find a phone # online though. We booked through Shoretrips.com and had a wonderful experience.
We have tried Lucky Stables and didn't care for where you ride.

What didn't you like about the location of the ride ?

The stables (Lucky) themselves were not in a really nice area- but also you just trail ride up a garbage strewn mountainside. Whereas Bayside- the stables are really nice and you ride along the beach. The trail that you ride to the beach is somewhat garbage strewn in areas but at least you get away from it once you are on the beach. Once word of warning though- we didn't get to ride in the water like we did the first time because the guide said there was bacteria in the water! I hadn't heard this warning on the ship and did see people swimming at the beach by the ship.
I live on the Gulf of Mexico and periodically the state does tests and there are warnings of high levels of bateria even when the water looks beautiful. I did not question him further since we weren't swimming and it isn't easy to talk while riding! But that is what he said.

We rode at lucky, and they took us down a residential street and through an oil refinery!! It was quite a while back, but I think we eventually did make ti to the ocean and do some riding near the water. We ended up riding there by taking a cab from the pier. We didn't have reservations, but thankfully they were able to take it (we were the only two people there). To go back, they said we could take a bus, so we went to the stop a couple of blocks away. We never saw a bus, but when we asked a local, she waved down a passing van! Apparently, "buses" there are people with vans who make some extra money shuttling people. People on the street would just wave us down and jump in. The fare was only a dollar, and when we told the driver we were going to the pier, he varied from his usual route to get us as close to the bus as possible (we gave him a nice tip for that). I'm not sure which was more of an adventure, the riding or the trip back to the ship!

CallahanJulie10 - Hey I see you made it home!!! AKL was awesome, just as you said! Saw the thread and I thought I'd see if you had responded. My DH doesn't like horses, so no chance of this experience for me. Our ride back was much better. Left AKL at 5:30 Orlando time and got home at 9:00 p.m. our time, - 10:00 AKL time. We really love this resort, and although we didn't end up doing Boma - I talked them out of a Zebra Dome. Mmmm, Mmmm.
