St. Marten/St. Thomas Shore Excursions - What do you recommend?

We are looking for ideas on the shore excursions and would really appreciate any recommendations. We have two children ages 9 & 11 and would like to include them on these events.

Also, are there other activities that are not mentioned in the Disney literature that would be fun or interesting.

One last question, do you recommend renting a car on either of these islands, or is cabbing it the preferred means of travel?

We are only 12 days from sailing!

Hi,
We are going in March. We are doing the dolphins and sting rays. It wasn't listed in our paper work. We found it on Disney's web. site.
Its on St. Marten. Just thought I'd mention it.

We did the Regatta race in St Maartin...it was alot of fun!!!

On St. Marteen we also did the regatta. We DCL-people had three boats and had a great race.
After that we hired a taxi and went over to Oriental Bay and spent a wonderful afternoon in some nice lounges in front of a bar at a wonderful beach. The taxi was $20 for four people one-way, 2 lounges and a shade for two were $10 and the prices for the drinks were also reasonable.
At St. Thomas we did the Trunk Bay snorkel tour by ferry and car and it was great, but next time we would do the boattour to Trunk Bay.

My DS8 and I did the Golden Eagle Catamaran last year and absolutely loved it! They are great with the kids, let them help steer the boat and help pull up the sails. Private island for snorkeling, sunning and beach time. Also they bring out buckets of special mud to spread over your body like a spa treatment. You just let it dry then rinse off in the water and your skin feels great. Also they serve sandwiches, rum punch and champagne on the trip back. My son especially loved sitting up front and getting splashed with the other kids. We are definitely signed up for this again on our February Magic cruise. Highly recommended!

The sailboat race in St Maartin is fantastic. We did it a few years ago. This time, we're going to swim with the dolphins in Anguilla.
