Ok guys, I hear that when I go to St. Louis, I have to try fried ravioli. Where should I go? I've heard of the hill, but is there a certain place? It sounds yummy! Thanks for any info!

Most restaurants will have it as an appetizer.:thumbsup2

Oh and they are called Toasted Ravioli's.

You could get some "IMOS PIZZA"....I know they have toasted rav's.

Skip the ravioli and go to one of the frozen custard places for a concrete. Much better.

Toasted Ravioli is delicious! All of the Italian restaurants should have it :) Enjoy!!!!

One of my favorite foods! But you can buy them in the frozen section TGIF brand. They are huge and are very very good, just as good as what you'd get in the restaurant. I worked at Friendly's 15 years ago and they had them as an appetizer then!

Toated Ravioli is yummy. There is an Italian place near our house that serves this with a cream sauce. :thumbsup2

I admit I am a transplant to Missouri, but I find toasted ravs to be gross. I'm not a huge fan of ravioli to begin with and toasting does absolutely nothing to improve them.

I also think provel cheese is a crime against nature.

Do I need a flame suit?

Frozen custard in moderation, is yummy.

LOL! No flames from this St. Louis native ;) Different strokes.... How do you feel about White Castle or Steak N Shake?

White Castle is the devil. Too many tatsy little gut bombers and you pay for it! :lmao:

Steak N Shake, really good shakes but everything is overpriced. Not worth it for me.

I live in st louis close to the hill the best place is and started this tradition is at @ place called Cunnetto's on the Hill get there early because there will be a long line wAiting  to get in. Then go to Ted Drewes frozen custard and get a concrete for dessert both are GREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT PLACES!

Dh and kids love toasted ravioli, I can't stand it.

Dh loves White Castle food and I think they should be banned by a toxic emissions law.:lmao:

couldn't agree more ..... don't miss dinner at Cunettos ... and maybe Zia's for lunch

Well don't leave the OP hanging man. The custard place is www.teddrewes.com It is a definite MUST DO in St. L. Go to the one on Chippewa; it's not too far from the Hill

I love provel cheese!!!! It's so gooey and rich when it's melted.

Cunetto's is THE place to go--LOVE their Brandy Alexander's too!!! YUMMMM!

I can't stand toasted ravioli. Imo's pizza is good but I much prefer Cecil Whitaker's. I love Steak n' Shake and I agree it is expensive but there are usually coupons in the weekly paper. And I love Provel Cheese. How could Provel Cheese be a crime?

I have a friend that currently lives in AZ (grew up in St. Louis) and she can't find provel cheese there. She longs for it LOL! I love cheese garlic bread with provel. BTW, it is nice to see a few St. Louis area people here on the DIS :)

So is Cunnettos a place we can eat lunch? We'll probably be around for lunch. I think we'll head out of town at dinner time. This will be on a Friday, so not a weekend, if that helps.

Steak N' Shake-we have those here. Not in my town, but near enough. We don't really care for them, but I appreciate the info.

Would Zia's be better for lunch?

Maybe we'll get to ted drewes. Looks good!

I think it's a crime against nature because it has all the processed plastic flavor of American cheese slices. To add insult to injury, you can't get a salad from a pizza joint out here that doesn't conatain more of this faux cheese than actual lettuce in it. Gah- get it off my plate. ;)

Girlfriend...:rotfl: :rotfl: and I agree with the lettuce comment....

This is true of most midwest restaurants... TONS of CHEESE.. not just provel... Waitstaff always looks at me funny when I order salads.. which is a staple for me... " ez on the cheese, dressing on the side and extra lettuce please".. hec I do it at Steak and shake too!

I am not a big fan of provel either.. but I like IMO's pizza.

Toasted Ravioli is good. I say try to avoid the chain's like TGIF, Olive Garden when ordering Toasted Ravioli.. get the good stuff at local Italian Restaurants.. TGIF and the rest will do.. but really try the original stuff.
