I don't know if this is appropriate to post here, and if not, please say so...
Our local country station here in CT is doing a radiothon to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. I have been listening to the radio over the last couple of days, and the stories of children with cancer are simply heartbreaking. I cannot even begin to imagine what those familes go through.
Anyway, I just wanted to ask all CT Disers, and any other Disers for that matter, to please PLEASE consider calling in and making a donation to St. Jude's. For all of us who have children, and all those who will, be thankful if they are healthy, but realize that it could just as easily be your child who is diagnosed with a life threatening illness. St. Jude's has made amazing progress in the treatment of childhood cancers and because of their work many children have been saved. And, for those who don't know this, no family is turned away from St. Jude's due to the inability to pay for the treatment. That is why public support is so important to them.
I realize that money is very tight for everyone these days, and there are many worthy causes out there, but please consider giving whatever your can. Even if it does not seem like much, if we all give just a little, it will add up to a lot. If you have another charitable cause you prefer to give to, then please continue to do so. I think we all need to remind ourselves that, even in these times when our lives are tough, there are many who are even less fortunate.
If you are interested in donating, the number for the Radiothon is 1-800-201-8883.
