Hi All!
I was planning on grabbing a cab with the family for a St. Thomas beach, but recently read some rave reviews about St. John's.

Any opinions on a St. John's excursion with 2 adults, a twelve year old boy and two seven year old boys?

Any opinion as to going thru DCL or otherwise?

Thanks in advance for any info!:wave2:

The reviews you have read about St. John are definitely true!! Since most of the island is part of the national park system, you can experience beaches in their natural and unspoiled state - a rare thing to find on more developed Caribbean islands.

We went on our own to St. John on our last cruise and plan on doing the same this December! It was DH and myself, DD9 and DS6.

When you get off the ship, many taxis/cabs will be waiting. Just tell them you want to go to Red Hook. At Red Hook, you can catch the ferry, a 20 minute ride, to Cruz Bay on St. John. The ferries run hourly - if you get off the ship fairly early, you should be able to make the 9am ferry. Again at Cruz Bay, there will be taxis (open-air) to take you to the beach of your choice. The most popular seem to be Trunk Bay and Cinammon Bay. When you are dropped off, just tell the driver when you want to be picked up to go back to Cruz Bay. We left Trunk Bay around 1:30 and caught the 2:15 ferry back to Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas.

Here is a link to the ferry schedule between St. Thomas and St. John. (I hope it works :) )

I'm sure you will have a great cruise!

Thanks for the info, Julie! Any idea of the cost of doing on your own like that w/ a family of 5?:wave2:
