Thanks for that, did it run after Dreams? Apart from St David's Day, 14th July and New year's Eve are there any other special days that DLP celebrates each year? And why St David's especially? Wales and/or St David don't have any special significance for Disney or the French do they?
St Patricks, Halloween. They used to celebrate 12th night for the Spanish (don't know if it was done this year though )and have heard rumeurs about Orthodox Christmas to attract Russian tourists.
There are no special connections with France. These events just bring in a certain group of visiteurs every year and make DLP a bit of money
It was a week later to enable more families to attend. Lots of schools run special events on St David's Day and children dress up to go to school. Which a lot a families wish to attend.
It also allows the National Eisteddfod winners to attend as their choirs are very busy on St David's Day it's self.
I had lunch with two DLP Events CMs today, there has been a huge increase in the number of Russian guests to the park over the last few years and so the special Christmas events in January 2014 is help encourage more Russian visitors,
The Spanish events and promotions have been cancelled due to the poor state of the Spanish economy. Spanish families can't afford DLP at the moment and their attendance levels are at an all time low.
Spooky, I've just put the radio on in the background to listen to the schools closures and as I read your post Tom Jones started playing!
Really interesting to hear your explanations for this celebration. I'd never have guessed it would have such a draw. The projections looked great and a lot of work for one day. Having been for July 14th many years running we have decided not to go then this year for a variety of reasons - no shows, high crowds and a feeling that the special fireworks/music is always much the same each year but maybe this year they will put some special effort into the projections for that too.
