Your poor brother. It is cases like this which make me glad to live in Canada where medical bills like that just do not happen! It is terrible how a health crisis can cause such long lasting financial problems.

I too grew up with National Health Insurance !!!I was mortified the first time I went to the ER and before anyone saw me they asked how it would be paid !!

Keeing your brother in prayers. I hope some type of resolution can be made about the hospital bills. I know they add up quickly. My friend's husband had open heart surgery and they had an agreement with the hospital to pay $20 a month. Bill collectors still called. She learned that as long as there is an agreement with the hospital in place and it's being honored by the patient, that it is illegal for the bill collectors to call. When they called, she would as for their name and number and tell them she was reporting them because an agreement with the hospital was in place. She did call them out and without a lawyer intervening for them, the calls did stop coming eventually.

Hurray for 38 days!!!

Kathy, I am sorry he needs surgery and sorry that with all he has on his plate, he has to worry about the cost issues. Not fair! I have also always heard that if an agreement is in place with the hospital, debt collectors are not supposed to call.

Medical bills are the #1 reason people declare bankruptcy.

38 days! I am so glad you have this trip to look forward to!

Um... was it in '94? I know that sometimes my camera date stamp is incorrect..but that is what is stamped on that pic. (too bad no point for adding that eh? :rotfl

Well, my brother will need surgery and will have it either Wednesday or Thursday. Tomorrow they will give him berrium (not sure if that is the right erm) down his tube to take more pictures to see if they can find exactly where the blockage is. He'll be in the hospital at least another week. He is so depressed and was in tears because they just adds to those medical bills from the past that there is no way he can pay. Please keep the prayers coming for a safe and successful surgery (although as the doctor said...with all the scar tissue, this can happen another 100 times ).

Be on the look out tomorrow some time for picture number three in the contest.

I am so sorry... This situation not only sucks....but is SO I really will keep him and you in my prayers.

Wow...that is hard. I don't recognize that place at all. I would have guessed Blizzard Beach, but (I assume) Andy is wearing denim shorts so probably not playing in the water. And then there are so many trees around that I might guess WL... but

woo-hoo! Two points! It figures - I had a 50/50 chance on which son and I picked the wrong one! I googled Winter Summerland photos because I thought that was where you were but I have never been there and the one that looked like where you were was labeled Hole 5 by the photographer. I am curious about the small detail - I couldn't think of anything.
