From what I have read SSR seems to be a massive resort. I hear that you need to take a bus to the pool area? We are 4 adults and 5 children (2,7,8,9,9). I am considering renting a car or two for transportation to and from the parks instead of using Disney transportation. From what I have read it seems like the transportation lives a little to be deired. Any thoughts?

Thanks,Julie

but wasting money on a rental when transportation is provided, but you can't wait the 20 minutes, seems like a waste to me. Even though you say the resort is huge, renting a car will not make the resort smaller. Each group of resorts cater to certain parks, we pick the park area we like and chose our resort there. I've seen the parking lots for the parks, they are not close and waiting for the lot tram is time consuming also. Leaving a park and waiting for that same tram and trying to remember where your car is parked, then trying to navigate out of the lot with 10,000 others and driving the race track roads is not vacationing or time saving to me.

Let the Disney CM's haul you around, you'll never be lost, saves time and nerves and enjoy, its a vacation. Plus the added savings of not renting, eat better or pick an up graded resort.

Thanks. Those are good points. My experience with the buses has been that you have to wait and wait for a bus with space on it. That has been frustrating watching buss after buss go by while you are still waiting. We need a grandvilla and BW is booked so we have to stay at SSR. Our home resort is VWL.

I never had any problems with the buses at SSR. As with all the resorts, the wait is sometimes longer than others, but we never missed a bus because there wasn't enough room on it for us. You can take buses to the pool, but it really isn't that bad of a walk (depending on where your room is I guess). There are a few quiet pools and hot tubs dispersed throughout the resort - so there will be one of them within a short walking distance from wherever you stay.

ask just for the Springs location - across from the main pool.

the others section have a quiet pool - small but very nice.

I love Congress house - it was great!!!! had a wonderful view!!!
