SSR - Where to Request??

I was wondering if someone could help me with my request for SSR this October. I am traveling with my parents, husband and four kids. Last time we stayed in "The Springs". I loved being close to the main pool/food area but I didn't like that we had to cross a street and a parking lot to get to our room. Could someone tell me what would be a good request. If I request "The Grandstand" would we take a path to get to the main area? I would prefer walking on a path because I think it is safer with four young kids but I do want to be fairly close to the main area as well. Please help. THANKS!

We stayed in the GS area in room 8241 (I think.) This building was located to the left of the bus stop and the pool and bbq area was right off of the other end of the building - bus stop was on the right hand and pool was on the left hand if you're facing the parking lot... We loved this area and the walk to AP and HRSP waas not bad at all. There is a path that leads right up through GS area and leads to the sidewalk in the front of check in area where ME drops off. There is also a path that will take you to DTD West Side in less than 15 minutes. It's on the out skirts of the golf course. After staying there, I will always request GS area because I loved the location. Good luck with you request!

I'm a fan of The Grandstand, The Paddock and Congress Park.

We definitley love the Grandstand. There is a nice quiet pool with a little play area for the young kids and a bar if you need a libation. The walk to the main building is pretty short and on a nice path. Also the bus stop is the first one in the SSR ring.

Although has anyone determined if/when the kids play area will be re-opened at the Grandstand? (It is currently walled off)

This is definately our favorite area, if you are in the two buildings next to the Grandstand pool. It is just a short walk to the main area and you only have to cross a golf cart path.

I asked last week and nobody had a clue as to when it will reopen. In the week we were at SSR, I never saw anyone working on it either.

Is the GS quiet pool as quiet as the other 2 quiet pools (I can't get over how empty these are)

The Grandstand pool (It has a name, I just don't know it) was pretty bare when we were there in May and the weather was perfect - 2nd year in a row with no rain on our week long visit! Some people in our group used the pool a few times and they also used the hot tub. It's nicer than most quiet pools IMO because of the theming and it has a pool bar and refill station for mugs although it wasn't open all the time!

Also, the charcoal grill area is great in this section! It was only in use once while we were there and otherwise it was pretty bare! We wanted to use it but never found the time.

Due, in part, to the closed kids area, the Grandstand pool was super quiet 2 of the 3 mornings last week. (and not too bad the other day)
About the refill station, it is attached to the pool bar and only open when the bar is open, so it does not open before noon, and was always closed by the time we got back from the parks

There is a thread in the "Mousellaneous" DVC section about the GS sprayer area, and I was told that is was finished, just not open yet. They re-did the floor area there and it needed to cure before the water got turned back on.

Boy I hope that's true and it'll be open in Oct!

As I was mulling around on some other threads I found a live trip report from someone who was there this week. At the start of her trip it had the play area walled off, but by the last day or two of her trip she had a picture of it and it was done, walls taken down and it looked open for business to me!
