I have never stayed at SSR but am considering it for January. Any feedback you can offer would be great!:hippie:

We are going in 2 weeks, and as you can see have stayed a few times previously. Obviously everyone has their own personal views, but we love it and here are a few reasons :

1. We really like the layout, landscaping and decor. We are also from Saratoga NY - so we love the theme. I really think it is a very beautiful resort

2. We love being close to DTD. We have a young daughter, so we usually enjoy a nice stroll over to DTD in the evening whether for dinner, ice cream, or to just end the day

3. Laid back atmosphere. We loved the Boardwalk when we stayed, but SSR has a more tranquil feel, and if you want action, DTD is just a walk away

4. Golf

5. Having a young daughter, we always rent a car, so we are not worried about bus rides, waits etc...

We love the resort, hopefully you will too

My husband and I have stayed there twice and each time we really enjoyed it. First of all you gotta love the point structure. It is a great value. The resort grounds are beautiful and very clean. Each time we have stayed in the Congress Park section. Great DTD view each time. Quiet pool is also nice with plenty of chairs. Since it is just the 2 of us, we have had a studio each time. CM's were also nice and helpful. Maybe we were lucky, but we never had a problem with the bus service. Give it a try, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

We just stayed at ssr for 8 nights in a 2 bdr in August. We absolutly loved ssr! The grounds are beautiful, and so are the rooms. We stayed in the Springs section which was close to the main pool, and all of the main blds. This was our first time staying there and were a little apprehensive, but we really enjoyed this resort. We def. will be staying here again.

SSR is our home resort that we just bought into!! We fell in love with this resort! It's does have a relaxing feel about it and it's beautiful! Don't hesitate!!

We stayed there this past January and it was wonderful! I love the openness of the resort and the idea of being "away from it all". We stayed in the Paddocks and walked right our of our building and straight onto the bridge that crossed over the pond to the main pool and dining beyond. No matter where you are in the resort, you'll love it! :thumbsup2

We've stayed at SSR two different times in January--great trips! The resort is beautiful and quiet even when busy. We found the pool to be warm at the time there were lots of threads about cold pools at the other resorts. Our kids swam every day. Have a great trip!

I didn't really know if I'd like SSR the first time we reserved a trip there, but in the end we really fell in love with the place... so much so that we recently did an add-on there.

We also found the CM's to be very friendly and helpful. They were so nice and attentive to our daughter (3.5 yrs old), it really meant something to us that they went out of their way to say hello and talk with her a number of times during our stays at SSR.

We were just there last week for 4 days and it was great. We were in Congress Park so right near the walkway to Downtown. The pool in CP was wonderful, there was also a great kids play area. I walked to AP to get breakfast one morning and it was a really nice walk. CM were very friendly and helpful. The AP had different kinds of food, not your usual burgers which was nice. Breakfast was great there. Turf Club was very nice, we had dinner there twice. Bus service was great, we never had to wait. While you are there every night from 5-7 you can tour the 3 bedroom one which was just beautiful. They also have the Animal Kingdom suites set up so you can tour what those rooms look like. We had a really relaxing wonderful time.

We really love SSR, and OKW for that matter as well. I am the type of person who likes a little distance between others so I LOVE the spread out resorts. Even though it is spread out, it is not an issue for us and wherever you stay really isn't that far from anything in the resort, maybe a 10 minute walk at best. We like SSR over OKW because it has a little more "elegance" in it's decor. I just seem to feel more relaxed at SSR (and OKW) than I do at the other resorts. And as previous posts have stated, you are just a couple of minutes from DTD should you desire some more excitement.

I have to agree, for the most part. We initially bought into BWV, and while we still love it there, we have really grown attached to SSR and OKW because they are spread out, and because they are isolated. I think that the space makes it feel like one is at a true resort... as opposed to a hotel.

The rooms are beautiful, the grounds are beautiful, the main pool is very nice with a nice kiddie play area and fun slide, the spa is a treat, Artist's Palette is the best counter service on property (now that Tusker House is CS no more), and Turf Club is one of the better table service places too. The whole atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. It feels "away-from-it-all", yet DTD is a walk or a boat-ride away if you want some Disney action, shopping or nightlife. A perfect combo in our book. Yes, there are a few things I would do differently if I were in charge there, but overall it's one of our favorite places at WDW.

This was my morning view with a cup of coffee at SSR last Oct.

The resort was very quiet which was a wonderful contrast to the hustle 'n bustle of running around the parks all day. Plus it is just a short walk to Downtown Disney if you want to partake in a little nightlife.

I went earlier this month for 4 nights and stayed in the Springs area. I think alot of it has to do where you stay at. We didn't have a car so this area was great for us to be close to everything.

I would definately stay there again.

We have stayed there twice and love the fact that you can walk to DTD however it is TOOO big. I like the smaller resorts better. JMO

It is nice though.

You described it perfectly. We are staying at OKW and touring SSR in April so we can decide which to buy.

We have never been there either, but with all the current positive comments, I think it is in our future.

we went during april break (right after easter) last year and loved it! we got a 1 bedroom villa right by the main pool area (the springs I think) our balcony overlooked the pond w/fountain and was quiet but convenient to bus and pool and food.
we took the boat to dtd most nights and used the buses for everything else with no problems
the parks were jammed by midday but the hotel never felt crowded! the main pool (the only one we used) was never packed and very nice with lots of chairs to hang out.
artists pallete had good food and not too terribly expensive. although we had groceries delivered by gardengrocer, we still bought the occasional desert/sandwich/snack and the artist pallette was really quite nice
