We're looking at extending a trip by a few days we've already got booked at BWV. We thought about either SSR and OKW as we've not stayed at either, what's people's preferences and why?

It depends on room type and party size.
OKW is a fun "bang for the buck" with large villas for relatively low points. And a nice tropical feel. (A legendary former poster and OKW owner joked during an early BWV stay that BWV 1BR was great because he could reach into the fridge, from the balcony for a drink)
OKW studios have 2 queen beds which can be an advantage for 2 beds, or a problem if you like a couch to sit on.
Most OKW buildings do not have elevators, so you may need to walk up stairs to a 3rd floor.

SSR has a room layout very similiar to BWV, and has better Disney Springs proximity, 2 feature pools and 2 eating areas.

It's certainly worthwhile trying all resorts at some time!

While I enjoy the theming at OKW better, the counter service food option is much better at SSR.

OKW for the room size of the 1bd, 2bd and 3bd. We are from up north, so we like the tropical feel with all the palm trees.

SSR is better for the proximity to Disney Springs, but the units are much smaller. If you want the studio, I would go for SSR because you get the sofa to relax on when in the room. OKW has a studio that feels more like a regular hotel room.

We like both resorts very much, for us it would depend on the size of the unit needed.

More themed pools at SSR. OKW only has the one at the main pool. Definitely better counter service with indoor seating at SSR. Rooms are quieter at SSR especially the studios and one bedrooms because the connecting door between them is in the foyer instead of the living room area.

SSR has elevators in every building and covered stairs. OKW only has elevators in a few buildings.
