SSR vs CBR questions

We are a party of 5 (3 adults and 2 children younger than 10) and we will have a baby with us. Currently, we have CBR booked with a 5th sleeper room. Our resorts will be Epcot, HS, and MK only with a DS evening planned. We know SSR is next to Disney Springs and CBR has the skyliner to HS and Epcot. We booked CBR because of the skyliner and the ease of going to HS and Epcot from the resort with a baby. So, if we want to head back around lunch time for a baby nap and kids pool time, we can do that. With a lot of people saying the skyliner is a nightmare, we are questioning our decision to stay at CBR. We are only there for 4 nights and we looked at other options.

How is the transportation from SSR to those parks? Is the skyliner from/to CBR that bad for rope dropping and closing? We have an option to upgrade to SSR for about $800 more but we are on a strict budget. Thank for any advice or feedback.

We are not fans for the Skyliner, but I certainly would not call it a nightmare. It's pretty reliable. It's just that if stops while you're traveling, or if weather conditions shut it down when you want to travel, it can be a bit frustrating! If it were us, I would keep what you have at CBR and trust that a significant portion of the time you're there, the Skyliner will be operating just fine. And if 2 of your park days include EPCOT and HS, the Skyliner should meet your needs. If you do SSR, and you don't have a car, you'll be dependent on the buses all the time - they can be frustrating at times, too! The only advantage to SSR would be a walk to Disney Springs - but if you are on the far side of the resort, you might choose to bus anyway. Good luck and hope you have a great trip!

Thank you. We keep hearing it is an hour wait for the skyliner from CBR/Riviera to either HS or EPCOT so that worried us with a 15 month old with us. We figure it would be okay to head back to the resort mid-day without issue. Rope drop is most important. Thanks

I think you'll have a bit of a wait at ropedrop, but not terrible. Mid-day, there will be very short lines.

That is fine. A wait is to be expected and we are planning on lining up early. Baby always wakes up at 6:15 AM every morning - on the dot. lol THanks.

With six bodies in a single room, you might be more comfortable in either a two bedroom villa at SSR or two hotel rooms.

SSR is bus only to the parks and with the current limited capacities on buses, I would personally avoid resorts that only offer bus transportation. With 6 people, its very possible you'll have to wait for the next bus which makes things difficult when trying to make rope drop. We stayed at CBR back in October and experienced the Skyliner rope drop situation and didn't find it bad at all. To make DHS 10am opening (9:15ish unofficial opening), we got to the Skyliner around 8:15 and we were at DHS walking through the gates by 9:15.

That said, I agree with PP that SSR rooms are larger, especially if you book a villa. It will give you more space with that many people, which may be worth it for your sanity.
