We arrived in Orlando at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon and were greeted by our driver, Renata, from FL Tours. We made a grocery stop at Publix on the way to OKW and were at the front desk by 4:25pm. Our room was ready and we were unpacked and settled by about 5pm. Our room, in building 49 is great. We are on the end near the roadway, but have no road noise unless we are on the balcony. The tilework has recently been refurbished in kitchen, bath, entryway and even the balcony. No housekeeping issues at all.

This morning, I again donned the hard hat and orange vest I always carry ;) and ventured into the SSR construction area. The site is alive with workers. The first building is well headed towards completion. The parking area is taking shape and already has lighting installed. I'm delighted to report that the foundation for buildings 5 and 6 is underway- thus promising that the next phase is taking shape and is pointing towards the early 2005 opening date for building #5.

Construction continues on the pool and interior rehab is taking place on the DVC Sales Center (formerly the South Studio classrooms of DI) and the Spa exterior is having a facelift to blend with the SSR Theming. The marina is almost completed and the Lake Buena Vista golf clubhouse is also undergoing an exterior facelift.

I was approached by a kindly member of the Disney security force (he apparently noticed how faded my orange vest has become) who suggested I be careful around the heavy equipment. :smooth:

Here are some <a href="http://disneydoc.homestead.com/ssr1203.html">more SSR photos</a> from this morning (12/05/03).

Enjoy!

Thanks Doc! Glad to know someone's keeping an eye on our "home" for us. Very exciting to get the photos so quickly. Nice work - let's just hope no one reads this board and gets wise to your orange vest!

The photos look great. SSR is going to be much more airy and brighter than I first envisioned. I thought it would look more woodsy and remote. I like the lighter colors!

Thanks so much Doc! Really loved seeing the pictures. I am new to the DVC and every little tidbit of information means a great deal to me. I can't wait to see my home for the first time.
