Okay.....being an SSR owner...I can book now for my July trip next year. We would book a 2br and then on Feb. 1st we would try to change it to a THV. If I booked two of my three nights on cash (the two weekend nights) now......come next Feb. what do you think my chances are to get those cash nights at a THV? If impossible ....then would I be better off securing them under points now and just wait it out for next Feb. and see then if there are even any cash nights being offered for THV.

I'm not following your question. THV is not available for booking either points or cash now.

I know I can't book THV now. I said I can book now (I am a SSR owner) for a 2br on points or cash for my trip in July...if I were to book those on say cash.....and then call on Feb. 1st to try for a tree house.....would they be able to switch that cash ressie to a THV ressie for the same dates? Or would it be easier to just book those 3 nights NOW as points nights...and do the switch on Feb. 1st to a tree house? A points ressie might be easier to switch than a cash one??? Does that make sense?

Bottom line....if we can book discounted cash nights for the weekend nights in July.....we can spread our points out better for this long of a trip.

I'm not sure what you're after but here goes...

Basically, if the nights are available when you call in Feb it doesn't matter what your existing reservation is. If you have points booked at SSR, you can cancel and rebook. If you have a cash reservation, you can cancel as the booking is still far enough in advance. Either a points or cash reservation can be cancelled and a new reservation booked.

Did I understand you correctly? Is it a use year/banking concern you have?

LOL I am going to edit my post above. I thought it was clear but maybe too confusing.

I edited my original post....hope this make sense now??;)

Okay....gotcha now....

Unfortunately..sorry...can't help you !!! Hard to tell what the availability will be for these. I would think initially pretty high for the novelty and nostalgia factor alone. That, however, may not affect the cash availability the same way.

I guess, if it was me, I would secure rooms with points. I avoid cash if at all possible, it always seems so expensive. But that is just my perspective.

The bottom line will be availability and if the units will be open by then. Here comes another personal opinion....I usually wait until construction is finished before staying at a new resorts. It disturbs my vacation, but again that is just me !!! Disney has a way of making new properties look established very quickly.

I would not count on THV being available for cash, especially with a discount. DVC has a rule at BWV that they do not offer standard view or boardwalk view for cash. They also do not offer the 2 bedroom w/2 queens at BCV. They could conceivably do the same rule for THV since they are limited.

What do you mea they don't offer the 2br with 2 queens at BCV? We stayed in a dedicated 2br on DVC discounted cash for a Friday night this past July?

You know that is a good point. I was going back and forth on this about our AKV stay next July in Kidani too. So if these THV are available next June....there is a chance they won't all be done then?? I guess we could just do a 2 night stay "just to try them out" then if we loved it...the following trip...we could try for them again.

I've heard they don't offer the 2 queens for cash but maybe they make exceptions if they have many unreserved. I've never tried it personally. How far ahead did you book? Was it connected to a points stay with 2 queens?

Yeah we stayed 5 nights on points and had a cash night that Friday. Maybe because it was a high point weekend. We did it because we had a 14 night trip and we felt it was not that expensive to stay on discounted cash.

But you know what....I bet you are right...those tree houses...will probably never have a disccount cash night..unless it is like Sept maybe.

I guess there is a possibility. However, since it is such a contained area and they are indicating this 'special construction method', maybe the construction will be done. You would think that the pool etc would be all done prior to taking bookings.

Certainly, we can expect that there will be some DIS'rs that scout out the area over the next few months and that may give a good indication before February !

Well we will be scouting in Nov. We are there from Nov. 20th til 27th and we are staying at SSR and OKW so we will be able to check it out when we are on the boats.
