SSR: Still love it, but room looking shabby

We just got home from a wonderful short trip to SSR. I adore SSR, with its nice walk to DTD, beautiful grounds, lovely pools, and so on. On this trip, though, we were disappointed that our room was looking very worn. The pull-out sofa, in particular, was in sorry shape. I felt bad to have the kids endure it, when in the past it has been very comfortable. This time it was hard to open, the mattress was lumpy, the cushions were very worn, and when re-folded the cushions didn't even cover the mattress.

Also, there was mold/fungus in the shower tile grout, the carpet looked very used, and the king mattress was extremely flat and unsupportive.

As much as I love SSR, I didn't feel like we got our "points' worth" when the room looked so rough. Has anybody else noticed this?

Yep! I have noticed numerous times that the carpet just looked thin and tired, along with a few other notable worn out situations.

But I have also had the pleasure of having a refurbished room that was just a delight.

When you get assigned a room that you feel is not up to the points you have used, tell them at the front desk and ask for another room.

We need to let DVC know when we are unsatisfied!

Rooms get wear on them, but for financial reason you can't be refurbishing them every two years. I guess it's sort of a lottery on whether or not you get a nice room. Just stayed at AKL and our room had some wear, but it's not anything we go in looking for.

Just curious, was it in Congress Park? There have been more and more postings from that area about wear and with it being the first opened at SSR, it might be time for them to start refurbishments in that area.

Yes, it was in Congress Park. Also, I didn't realize that any rooms had been refurbished yet at SSR. In the future I'm glad I'll know to ask for one. I have to say, though, that I think I would still stay in an "old" room if necessary to keep the Congress Park location. I love the view and the convenience to DTD. I hope that they will do some upgrading, though.

Definitely don't mean to imply that this spoiled my trip in any way. It was just on the level of minor annoyance that I'd hope would get fixed up in the near future.
