SSR Standard or Preferred

For 300.00 more for 6 nights we can get a preferred room. Is this worth the cost? It will be me, DH and DD age 6. The Paddock pool looks really fun so I wouldn't mind being in the section, but I'm worried we wouldn't get this request. How far is the farthest walk from the other standard rooms? Thank you!

So, you have less than a 50-50 chance of being in Paddock if you book Standard, because Standard can be in Grandstand, Paddock and Carousel. Carousel is on Mars, basically. Grandstand is fine. If you don't have a car, people tend to hate Carousel.

If you book preferred, you WILL be in either the Springs or Congress Park.

I.am fine with grandstand because they have a quiet pool. We are going to request paddock and take the risk!

We have stayed in Paddock and Congress Park. Actually preferred Paddock - beautiful view of lake, very close to bridge/walkway to main bldg, close to pool/quick service, and room was in better shape. Our request was paddock, close to pool.
We were very disappointed in Congress Park... were very much looking forward to a Disney Springs trip, but the room was tired, dusty, and sad. We will wait until the refurb to come back. It's a shame, cause it's really a lovely resort.

Was the room at paddock better? I looked at the studios online and they look better than OKw

Yep. Or it may have just been luck of the draw. We liked the Paddock room, but we also like OKW - the main difference is the extra bed in OKW vs. sofa pull out for SSR. I like the grounds/landscaping of SSR better.

All of the units at SSR are the same age. Some are just in better shape. Has nothing to do with section.

I like OKW for the two beds but i dislike how the beds abut the door. It seems like it would be less quiet this way. Also, the rooms did not look as fresh in the video tour.
