That is what I thought I heard on the Today Show this morning. it did not sound right to me. they did a segment on time shares and how they are good now and not sleazy like they used to be.

Didn't that same segment seem to say that SSR was actually in NY? I don't get to watch the Today show very often, but it sure seems to have succumbed to fluff!

I heard that this morning also - they did imply that the resort was in NY. I wondered if they meant the first section sold out in 6 days?

The whole discussion of SSR made no sense. Yes, he did say it sold out in 6 days but he also said it was a resort with a spa built in upstate NY. :confused3 :confused3

:confused3 The segment was done by a travel expert they have on a lot. I think this time he was a little confused. He did say NY and it sold out in 6 days. I think they should make a correction but they probably won't. At least DVC got a little good press even if it wasn't right!

the first SSR resort was built in N.Y (not by disney) and sold out in 6 days.
disney really liked the idea of the ssr in N.Y and made their own replica of it in FL. as a DVC resort , is which that ssr resort is still being sold by buying points. At members Homecoming they had the mayor from SSR resort in N.Y
come down for the members Homecoming and brought water from the ssr N.Y to pour in a bowl with the disney ssr water . It was a very nice Members Homecoming.

There very well may be some sort of time share in Upstate NY, however the Saratoga Springs Resort in Disneyworld is themed after the CITY of Saratoga Springs, NY....a city that is about 30 minutes north of Albany. It is a gorgeous city. The streets in the Disney Resort are named after streets in the city. The Springs actually exist in the city of Saratoga. People go there with empty water containers and fill them with the water of the springs. There are relaxation springs, baths, and spas there. During the opening of the Disney resort, the mayor of Saratoga Springs, NY (he's the mayor of the city, not the resort) came and poured water from the springs. The city is known for it's racetracks, hence the horseracing theme at the Disney Resort.

I've been down every nook and cranny of Saratoga Springs, NY because I almost bought a home there twice. :sunny:

And adding to Diva's excellent report, Saratoga Springs, NY has been around for a long, long time. Also, the design of the Villa buildings is based somewhat on the artists' retreat Yaddo....
