We are seasoned visitors to WDW (over 20 visits) with two more trips in the next 6 months planned. Things are a bit different this October as there will be 8 of us. We have two separate bookings at SSR for 7 days from 6th October which folks are saying will be very busy (Columbus Day etc). DH and I have booked a 2 bedroomed villa for us, DD and my Mum. My niece and her husband have booked a studio for them and their 2 girls aged 6 and 3. My preference would be for us to be near the pool at the Paddock and for us to have our rooms as close as possible together. What's the best way for me to go about requesting this at SSR? Probably Mission Impossible!

I would call and have them note this on your reservation. If you all have separate reservations they can “link” them so they know you’re all traveling together. And of course, when the first party member checks in to see the likelihood they can accommodate. Unfortunately, they won’t guarantee meeting these requests but I know from past experience they do try.

There are two booking categories for SSR, preferred (Congress Park and the Springs) and standard (the Paddock, the Carousel and the Grandstand). Which did you book?

We booked last July on WDW UK site and the only options were studio, 1 bed and 2 bed villas (and Tree House). There was no option for standard or preferred. The past twice however we have been put in Congress Park overlooking the water - just DH and I visiting the first week in July. We love Congress Park as it is so close to DS however with an 86 year old, a 6 and 3 year old in tow I thought I would prefer The Paddock - pool with slides for the children, refill station and QS counter as well as a bus stop close by. Not too far to walk to Hospitality House either past the big fountain. While Congress Park is handy for DS and the quiet pool and the views of DS are lovely, it's a fair step to Hospitality House for any QS food and refills.

My guess is that you will get Congress Park or the Springs since the standard view usually books up (it requires fewer points than the preferred view).
