SSR Room Requests on my Ressie - Odd!

I got my ressie in the mail for my Jan. 08 trip this afternoon and the only request I had requested to MS was Congress Park and good view of DTD. The very first thing on my list though says "REQUEST NON-SMOKING ROOM" which I think is funny since #1 I didn't request a non smoking room because the new rule should be in full force by then, and #2 if smoking were an option in my room, I'd have grab that right up ! I'm thinking I should call them and let them know that I don't need that as my first request if they go in order from top to bottom because I assume I'm already in a non smoking room! Any tips or does the request sequence really matter? I do plan to get to the resort around 9 or 10 am on check in day anyway! Also, I got a dedicated 2br, I hope it's as lovely as I remember them to be on the tour!

Same thing happened to me. And my first request was not even on there.

Call back and get that changed...
Many times I have had my requests mixed up...only time I have gotten a horrible room was when I had no requests(outside of Medical non-smoking).

Call and have it corrected. Keep a eye on your requests. Ours are wrong more than they are right. I had heard that you should list your requests in order of importance and limit the list to a couple of items. Have a great trip.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they have ever put requests on the confirmation other then the standard 'Non-smoking'. I'm sure your requests are still noted but you can always call back to check.

My confirmation has three listed:
Non-smoking
Congress Park
View of DTD

So I had a total of three of them.

Ours have always been listed. As I wrote earlier, they were often incorrect, but they were listed. Maybe MS only entered the no smoking request and didn't enter others?

Ours have always said Non-Smoking as the first request and we have never requested that. We don't smoke but smoking doesn't bother us as we have been around smokers our whole lives. Our other requests have always been listed under that one. I've always found that odd but never said anything. This time the only request listed is the non-smoking one so I have been considering making a call to confirm that our real requests are at least listed in the system.

I called today and had the CM remove the smoking request, and I asked her to replace it with a non HC room after reading the other threads. It's not that I don't want a HCA room, but would prefer to leave it for those who may need it anyway. If I get there and that's it, fine with me though. I guess they always put non smoking, but we should start seeing that drop off the list soon. Lol, nmaybe in it's place I can request location near designated smoking spot!

My DTD view request was present on my confirmation for my May '07 trip. Of course we got in late so I didn't get my request. I am getting the idea that making requests is a waste of time, and you really just need to catch an early flight to get what you want.

My reservation for July says Congress Park requested. But I also asked for DTD View and when I questioned it I was told it is noted on the ressie just not on my paper I received. I hope I can trust that.

And for our Nov. trip I asked to be in The Grandstand Area and when I received my ressie confirmation it says "Requests Vac Home near Carriage House". Not sure where this one came from. I'll wait until after our July trip to change that one.

I've read reports and heard on podcasts that Disney is banning smoking in all rooms, including DVC, effective June 1.

On one of our Jan. confirmations, aside from our usual requests, it has "Guest is celebrating a birthday", which I thought was so nice, since I merely mentioned it to MS as another reason I was thrilled to get my requested AKV villa! And since Jiko's is one of DH's favorite restaurants, it makes it very convenient to have his b'day dinner there!

That's really cool that you had an attentive CM! Maybe they'll send you something special for DH's birthday! I love it when they do the little things like that!

Just to mention my original post and confirm a few things:

Yes - All of my requests (including one I didn't even make) showed up on my confirmation.
Yes - Effective today ALL rooms in the resort are non smoking (which is why I thought it odd I had a request for a NS room on a 08 conformation and that it was the first request on my list even though I never made that request) Side note - Not being a meanie in anyway but I do know that smoking is only to be debated in designated smoking threads. Smoking is only mentioned in this thread due to the oddity of having the above request.

Hope this helps others who may get weird requests or requests they didn't really make (but didn't really need or want!)

Thanks for setting me straight guys! I guess I never make the requests when I book the room 11 months out! I need a few months to mull it over!
