Just noticed that Jaki has a listing on her Web site for SSR at $87.50 per point!!! With the incentives that Disney is offering right now, this seems like it would be a tough sell at this price...

It comes with 200 points though. Use them, or sale them to drop your cost to $77.50

I believe other SS were going for $79 with no points.

I agree it's a tough sell, and even at $79 per point it's not so good. When you consider Disney's offer at $95, minus $10 will bring the cost down to $85, plus they pay the closing cost, and you get a pair of AP's, and no payments till May, with 0% interest till April...well you tell me which is a better deal. Of course the AP's are only on add ons, but that's just what I did.:bounce: :bounce:

Just for comparison purposes: There is a "sale pending" 160-pt. SSR resale at TTS. February UY, 60 pts. banked, another 160 coming in Feb of 2005. $78 ppt.

In comparing the DVC resale websites, I've always found TTS to be the most competitive.

I bought 130 SSR Dec UY points, $90 pp/ with 2003, 2004, 2005 points, and got 2 APs.

I thought this was pretty good....

It sounds like this was a direct buy from DVC, not one of the resales we've been discussing -- that's the only way you can get the 2 annual passes. (If so, though, how could you get 2003 pts when the resort wasn't even open then? My understanding was that pts began in 2004...?)

(Btw, DH and I bought 130 additional SSR pts @ $85 ppt from DVC and got the two APs. No points 'til '05, but we were willing to give that up to save the additional $5 ppt.)

We just closed a SSR resale for 200 pts. All were banked from 2004 and all available from 2005 for $77/pt. Since we are from California, the banking of the points was more important. We also have a OKW with 230 pts which we also bought as a resale approximately 5 years ago.

There were 2003 points only for Dec UY.

For Phase I, they we're selling Dec UY, and gave you 2003 UY.s...

and yes, I have bought SSR twice, one in Phase I, and one again recently.

Because Goldi has a Dec. UY they received Current Year Points from DVC. Their CY is Dec. 2003. DVC started their pre-sales with Dec. 2003 points that sold out quickly (I think it was the first 2 months of sales)

DVC is currently selling Phase I and Phase II. Phase I is being sold as add-ons to current members (if they choose CY points).

New buyers must purchase Phase II when purchasing thru DVC.

I added on in Phase II, because I dont need anymore CY (March) points. This way I dont have to pay interest, payments or dues until Spring 2005. Plus I'll get the $85 price and the AP's. Our 2005 trip is in May-June so I will have those add-on points for our trip.

Okay, if I buy the SSR add on, when will my use year be? I just bought my first sale at SSR, and Use Year is March, but I'm wondering if the add on will be different because they are selling a different phase.

Okay, I get the Dec. 2003 UY/points idea.

But this post was originally about SSR resales, so I'm a bit confused: I'm just not sure how Goldi's original post (about buying directly from DVC, right??) is germane to the resale issue???

Or am I really missing something here? (I was out in the hot sun for almost 8 hours today, so I won't rule out that possibility.)

Kim,

Sorry, I sort of went off topic there. The thread was about SSR resales, but then I saw the posts about different phases of SSR being sold depending on whether you are new or an add on, and I digressed....... I've been meaning to ask that question and suddenly remembered it and posted. I should have started a new thread.

Oh, gosh -- I *think* (but again, I'm not sure!! I'm still trying to figure out whether Goldie purchased her 2003-pt contract thrugh DVC or through a resale??) the thread started to go off-topic before your post, Rae! Not to worry!!

Generally speaking, DVC prefers to sell you add-ons with the same UY as your current one. They will make exceptions, but it is much easier for everyone involved if they do it that way.

Remember, the current price is $95 ppt, so subtract (based on the preferred incentive) accordingly.

DVC should be able to give you pretty much whatever you want with regard to a SSR add-on.

Good luck!!

:D

Goldi was posting regarding an add-on thru DVC.

She did post "for comparison purposes" to show how she was able to purchase from DVC at a better price and get all those points in comparison to what the current resale price was listed by the OP. Some members do add-on thru resale so her post was relevant to show an alternative for anyone remotely considering this purchase.

HTH!

So why wouldn't one just take the $10 off per point, vs. the $5? Is it because if you just get the $5 off you can use the points now, versus having the points be due next year with the $10 off?

Interesting stuff; wish I had more money!!!!!!

Yes that is correct.

$5 ppt. you will receive 2004 points for use immediately, once your contract closes. This is for Phase I, which is currently sold out for new members. Available to members adding-on to existing contracts. Some will take the $5 discount, and then rent the 2004 pts. for $10 or more and decrease their costs even more.

$10 ppt. is basically selling your 2004 pts to DVC for $10. Then you would get 2005 pts and deferred billing and interest until your Phase II unit is available for occupancy.

Within the last 24 hours I have gone from just trying to figure out where I am going to stay in February for my first trip to Florida with the DH and DS's - hadn't for a moment actually considered DVC ownership.....to talking with a guide and having the following deal under serious consideration

Complimentary 150 point vacation in February with
$85.00 per point 150 point purchase till 2054 at no closing and they finance this with 10 or 20% down.....SSR is home resort and June or July is UY....

AM I NUTS OR WHAT..... DO I NEED A TIME OUT?

Nope, I don't think you're crazy at all! You might want to start this as a separate thread, though, to get additional input.
