We stayed in a studio at SSR from 3/22 through 3/26 and moved to Celebration for 3/27 and 3/28. We were in room 3347 (a studio) at SSR which was in one of the newly opened Springs buildings. The studio was non-HA and non-smoking. It was at the end of a hall on the third floor overlooking the lake slightly to our left, with Congress Park in front of us and slightly to the right. The Cirque du Soliel building was to our immediatea right. We could see the Planet Hollywood sign in between a couple of the Congress Park buildings. We had views of the construction on buildlings to the left across the lake, but it did not bother us in the least. We had requested a DTD view several months ago, but the resort was full and did not get it. We were pleased to stay in a building that had just opened and was so close to the spa, pool, etc. There was one minor problem with the A/C vent (it rattled alot), but one call to maintenance the next morning and a repairman was over within the hour to fix it.

Did not get a "welcome home" from guard, but got two from CM at check-in.
Even got one from mousekeeper that we passed in our building. Another mousekeeper wished us a "Happy Easter" on Easter morning. Very friendly.

DH and I enjoyed spa treatments (he got a regular swedish massage and I got a combo swedish massage/reflexology treatment.

It was cooler and rainy than expected and we did not make it to the pool. Hope to try it out in three weeks when I take a couple of my grandkids to WDW. We will have to pool hop though as we're staying at BWV. Hope the weather is better in three weeks.

We didn't go to the parks, but heard that they were very crowded. This trip was for golfing and spring training games. We golfed at Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge, then took a tour of Reunion development and played one of the courses there. We saw spring training games in Kissimmee (Houston), Lakeland (Detroit), Dunedin (Toronto) and got rained out of the Atlanta game at WDW's World of Sports stadium.

We saw Cirque du Soliel for the first time and really enjoyed that and recommend it to anyone who hasn't been.

Since we weren't going to the parks, I was able to do more shopping than usual and went to the Mall at the Millinia for the first time. We had a very good dinner at McCormick's and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant there. Next door is P.F. Chang's and on the other side is Cheesecake Factory.

Attended the Wednesday (3/23) member update at SSR. I asked the CM when we checked in when it was and she asked if I wanted to go so I could voice my complaints. I told her that I had no complaints, but had never been because we were usually in the parks. I don't think I heard any complaints from those of us in attendance. They were giving out window decals (clear with white DVC logo/lettering).

DH said that SSR is his favorite resort. It was really great to have our car right out front of the building. It really made it easy for us to get around since we were in and out several times a day. I think we will probably stay at SSR on our golfing (non-park) trips.

That's about all I can really remember, but if anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

Thanks for your report. I am looking forward to staying there. Sandie

Thank You for taking the time to post your trip report!! :goodvibes

I have on several occassions wanted to golf @ WDW but thought it might be intimidating...because Im really not a "great golfer", and shy away from going, but, do love the game.

What are your thoughts on how experienced/professional do you really need to be? :confused3

Thanks!!

Hi,

Thanks for sharinng!!!! Glad you had a good time!

Allison

Thanks for the great trip report!
I'm glad you liked SSR!
Can't wait to see it. It's almost time! :cool1:

Goofy4,

I told my wife about SSR and that I think it would be nice to try. It seems quiet and relaxed, and I like the proximity to DD. She's skeptical because she doesn't think it will be as nice as OKW, where she loves the atmosphere.

Have you been to OKW? How does it compare in terms of the "feel" of the place?

How long does it take to walk from SSR to DD?

I would be in big trouble if we stayed there and she didn't like it.

Thanx for the report, goofy4dvc. My wife and I also liked SSR when we visited. We both said it was our second favorite on-site DVC resort. :drinking:

If I can golf, you can golf. My husband is good, but I don't even keep score. If I do get into some trouble, I will pick up the ball rather than take too much time. The golf carts have a GPS on them and tell you if you are on time, ahead of time, or behind time. Of course, you can only play as fast as the group ahead of you. But I have never felt intimidated. In fact, we were paired with two men who putted lots of times. They were slower than I was. And yet, we were still able to stay up with the group ahead of us and finished a few minutes ahead of what the GPS said was standard. Go for it.

Thanks Mona....

I feel better now....I'll give it a shot in the fall!! :goodvibes

Just curious - was the CM who asked you if you wanted to know about the member meeting to voice your complaints - was she joking, or paranoid, or concerned, or sarcastic??

Not exactly sure, but I think concerned would best describe her question. I got the impression that maybe she had either had some complaints lately or had just left a meeting where CMs were told of complaints. Or that maybe others who asked about the meeting had mentioned that they had complaints. But I certainly didn't do anything to give her that impression, as I was in a great mood when I arrived at check-in and in a great mood when I left.

Makes me more anxious to go than I was!!

Glad to hear all the good things about SSR. We'll be there soon!!

Seneca: Take a stab at the golf. Most golfers can remember the days when they weren't so good! My DH has even been known to give a "lesson" or two!! He's an average golfer and loves to play at WDW. That's how I get him to return to WDW year after year and how we decided to join DVC. He's always played with really nice folk!

goofy4dvc: Thanks for the motivation to sometimes to do a non park trip! Didn't know it was possible! Although our recent trips have been much more varied in activities. Golf is always included!
