Is there parking right in front of the units at SSR? Or is there a communal lot in each section with a poyentially long hike to and from the room? We will be doing a lot of driving on our stay in May and access to the car is important.

Also, we only requested ground floor and close to pool and not a specific section as we like to play room-roulette. We arent doing Disney parks at all so only care about pool time and visiting Disney Springs. In the event they shove us back in the Carousel section, is there at least a decent pool back there? Which section has the best pool (in a standard room) for two adults?

I think Carousel section is the only with out a pool.

We requested Congress Park last trip and got it. They had a nice pool, not huge but quiet. The pool by the Carriage House is huge but busy and I think the Paddocks is the same way.

Good luck.

IMO Congress Park would be the ideal location for 2 adults staying at SSR. The quiet pool at Congress Park is very nice and DS is a very short walk.

We recently stayed at The Paddock, but our room was right on the end near the Congress Park bus stop (room 6610). This was a great location. Short walk to the main building/restaurants and short walk to the bus stop. There were many parking spots in front of our building.

Congress Park and the Springs section are now a premium category that requires selection when making the reservation and it costs more points to stay there.

There is parking in front of each building but it still could be a bit of hike to the farthest room. But at least unlike at OKW all the buildings have an elevator.

Paddock is SSR’s 2nd feature pool and has a QS and pool bar. Carousel would be closest to this pool. Carousel is also closest to the exit, so at least it’s easy/fast to drive in and out.

Grandstand has a pool bar (but a basic pool with separate kid splash zone)
From the map, you can see the 1 Grandstand building closest to Springs (original feature pool)

Carousel reminds me of my dad's comments about buying a car back in the 1930's...you can have any color you want...as long as it's black. At Carousel, you can have anything you want...as long as you want nothing. Pool...no; dining...no; close to Disney Springs...no; close to everything...no; worth staying there...no. If and when I return to SSR, I will definitely request...NO CAROUSEL.

Carousel .... worth staying there...no. If and when I return to SSR, I will definitely request...NO CAROUSEL.
Lol, prior to being stuck in “No Man’s Land” aka Carousel, I never made requests or cared where I landed. After two views of the guard shed and the parking lot, I learned!

So true!!! Thanks for the laugh!

Last time we requested something specific to NOT be placed in, thats' what they gave us. At BWV we specifically said "NOT looking at the SCARY CLOWN POOL". Walked in and went to balcony and looked out right into it's lifeless dead eyes!

I think Grandstand is great, especially if you get in one of the buildings nearest to the Springs section. The pool is right there, rarely had very many people in it, there's also a pool bar and drink refill station. You'd be a very short walk to the Springs and everything there, as well as a short walk to the boat launch to Disney Springs.
