Hi all,

I am planning my first solo trip and will be staying at SSR through renting points. Here are my questions:

1. Is there a bell-hop service to deliver me and my luggage to my room late at night?
2. Is there a bell-hop service to store my luggage on the last day while I enjoy a park?
3. Does the boat go from SSR to OKW and THEN to DD? How about on the way back from DD?
4. How safe will I feel on the walk to DD solo?
5. Are all of the bus stops for the parks or is there one central bus stop that I have to get to?

TIA for any answers!

Yes to number 1 and 2. This is standard for all Disney properties. Haven't stayed at SSR but as far as #5 I don't see why it would be any different than other resorts where all buses for the parks stop at each bus stop. Hope this helps

The boat makes the following route:

DTD -> SSR -> OKW -> SSR -> DTD

If you are at all worried about walking alone in the dark, just take the boat.

#5 There are three bus tops currently @ SSR. All of the Attraction and the DD buses stop at these locations. The buses schedule is controlled by a computer so there is no set schedule throughout the day. If you needed to go to another resort the best bet would be to go to DD and pick up a resort bus there.

1. Is there a bell-hop service to deliver me and my luggage to my room late at night?

Yes. They're physically located outside the Carriage House where you check-in and ME drops you off.

2. Is there a bell-hop service to store my luggage on the last day while I enjoy a park?

Yes, just touch the Bell Services button on the phone and they'll come get your luggage. I believe they're open from 7am - 11pm/12am.

3. Does the boat go from SSR to OKW and THEN to DD? How about on the way back from DD?

Already answered. The dock is behind the Carriage House.

4. How safe will I feel on the walk to DD solo?

Safer than from OKW's path which is partly on the golf course and unlit at night. SSR's pathway runs along the front of Congress Park and then next to the road to the bus parking lot. It's a pretty well lit path at night.

Otherwise, take the ferry.

5. Are all of the bus stops for the parks or is there one central bus stop that I have to get to?

There are currently 4 stops with a 5th one coming when the new section (Grandstand) opens this month.

The route now is Carousel Park, Paddocks, Congress Park, Springs. No one knows yet where Grandstand will be in the bus route. if you look at the map, it has its own access road off the main road, rather than being on a loop.

Here's the current map with some distances.

BroganMc...wow...thank you so much for your answers and the map. What a great resource!

Thank you to everyone who answered. I'm a little worried about going to a new resort solo and arriving late at night. POR has become my comfort zone but I am trying to convince DH that we NEED to buy DVC so this trip to SSR is a fact finding mission as well as a vacation for me.:thumbsup2

In that case, you can just walk yourself over to the Preview Center one day and talk to a Guide. He/she can give you the basics, whatever the latest offer is, latest point charts and the schnazzy color guidebook.

At the very least, you can tour the model rooms for SSR. They're in the corner of the Springs building 3501-3836. Follow the welcome mats to the second floor. Units are open on guided tours during the day and at 5pm for open house. Studio, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom lockoff and 2 story Grand Villa. Depending on how soon your trip is, they'll also be doing Animal Kingdom Villa virtual resort previews in the theatre across the way.

Take some time to go visit the other DVC's as well. BCV and BWV are in the Boardwalk/Epcot resort area. BWV has an open unit on the Boardwalk for touring. And I can highly recommend an afternoon at Wilderness Lodge (you must eat at Whispering Canyon Cafe). You already have OKW covered.

You can also hop to AKL from AK via bus. Eat at Boma's, tour the resort and savannah overlook. See if you like the African theme.

Most of all, have fun!

YES YES YES! I am going in May for a short stay prior to visiting relatives in the Orlando area. I plan to visit the DVC resorts and go to EPCOT for the FLower Show. I have been checking all the usual re-sale outlets and want to get a better first hand view of the choices and talk to a guide. :magnify:

Hey BroganMc...Just guessing but I think the Grandstand will become the first stop on the bus route. This way the Springs/Downtown SSR area remains the last stop allowing anyone to get on a bus at any stop and end up in downtown SSR. If Grandstand were the last stop people staying there would have no choice but to walk to SSR downtown. Also it means the bus won't have to take a left across incoming resort traffic to get to the Grandstand area and another left across traffic when leaving the Grandstand area. Just some food for thought.

PS: I was just there at Christmas/New Years and I miss it already! I'm looking out the window at a snow/ice storm that is pounding us right now!
