SSR Owner - Reservation Frustrations (LONG)

I was told by MS on 10/30 that members from other resorts can start trying to book SSR on 2/4, for dates beginning 5/17. However, she said there would only be one building open, so availability would be very limited. I have 2 questions:
1. Can a SSR "Building #2" member make ressies for Building #1 before members at other resorts? I know that I'd be rather upset if SSR were my home, but I couldn't reserve until the same time as members at other DVC resorts.
2. Does anyone remember any more about this cash discount they offered at VWL when it first opened? I'm interested since we're staying at OKW 5/23-5/28. However, we're looking for someplace for Saturday, 5/22, before checking into OKW. We had been considering a moderate, but this sounds really promising. Were the discounts thru CRO or MS? Were they only for members at that resort specifically or for anyone or for DVC members?

barryb - hi neighbor! (or should I say roomie?) Yes, this unit number conversation has certainly spawned some interesting conversations. I'm glad to know I won't be all alone over in 3A. Hope to run in to you around there someday (maybe June!). Dublin is definitely on our list of upcoming travel destinations (though I'm afraid we'll have to wait a few years til the youngest gets older).

Simba'sMom - all SSR owners will be able to make SSR reservations starting Dec 1st. So as an SSR owner, as far as I know you will still have a 2 month booking advantage over other DVC owners. The building number issue cropped up when we were trying to make reservations for other DVC resorts using the 7 month window which is only allowed if your stay starts after SSR opens. Sorry, I don't know any details about the cash discount. It might be worth calling MS or CRO after Dec 1st.

cosmocat - SSR owners *can* make reservations at other DVC resorts before Dec 1st. Your dates of stay must be within the 7 month booking window and must happen after your unit at SSR opens. LucyLou must own Unit 1x, she was within the 7 month window and her stay is scheduled for late May. She fits the criteria, so she could book. If our plans and ownership fit the criteria, I could have booked last week too.

This thread is very interesting.

I just purchased 200 points with a June use year at SSR on 10/23/03 and my paperwork say unit 1-F.

This booking situation does not really affect me because we are not going back until 12-2004.

I hope it works out for everyone.
