SSR Owner -- May 04 Visit -- What are the chances?

We've decided that we'd like to go to WDW this coming May 2004 -- last full week in May/5 nights total with day-of-week flexibility. If I am unable to get a 2br in SSR due to it just opening the previous week, what are the chances of me being able to get a 2br at another DVC resort being that I'd be booking only 5/6 months out?

DVC Rep said we can call December 1st for the reservation. Priority choices would be:

1 - SSR
2 - BC
3 - WLV
4 - BWV
5 - OKW

What do you think our chances are?

Not sure of your chances....But you could take 2 or 3 studios ( whatever would fulfill your need) then waitlist for your preference of a 2 bedroom. My experience with waitlist has been positive, but IMHO you would need to be okay with your backup plan.

Well, if you call DVC on 12/1, I'd say your chances will be fairly good. SSR owners will potentially be calling to reserve rooms for the period of 5/17 to 10/31/04. That's an awful lot of dates to fill up.

Yes. I'm going to let my Rep know that I will be calling on December 1st for the reservations. We'll take any combination in order to make this trip -- 1br & studio; 2 1brs; 2 studios.....any combo will do.

We generally have had good luck with wait lists. You can waitlist at more than one resort at a time, to increase your chances of getting a spot.

Is 5/17 the first day SSR is open?

It's either 5/16 or 5/17. 5/16 is a Sunday.

DVC has made no announcement of the opening date.

I was told May 1, 2004 - others have reported the May 17 date and CRSNDSNY has now reported May 16.

Until DVC puts it in writing in some public form, any suggestions are merely rumors.

Yeah. I asked my guide this question last week and she said May 16th or May 17th (I never wrote down the exact date from that conversation but it was one or the other).
