We're staying at SSR checking in on the 29th this month...but Im obsessing over this stay!!!! And now Im wondering if OKW would have been a better choice?! We definitely want a 1br and the kitchen (even a small one) is a huuuuuuge plus. We will probably have breakfast in our room most days except for the day we go to Cinderellas Table. Looks like both resorts are pricing the same. Ive looked at pics, and OKW seems a little more outdated maybe? Any other resorts that would have the same amenities? The BWV also looked a little outdated. We have a 3 and 4 year old, so we want something kid friendly. Thanks everyone!

I've been doing the exact thing as you, obsessing over if I should have done OKW instead. Originally I booked it, then read one bad review (and yes, I know that ANY resort can get a bad review) and changed to SSR. Now I keep thinking "but OKW had 942 sq ft in the one bedroom, and SSR only has 714!" I check in a few days before you do, on the 24th. I'm trying to relax and tell myself I made the right choice. :)

Our family of 4 has stayed at both resorts in a 2 BR and we love both of them. OKW has a great feel to it and I think it's prettier as it's much more established. We also loved staying at SSR although when we were there only one section was open as it was brand new. This gave us a great view of DTD and it was great to walk over there at night to get Hot Chocolate at Ghiardelli. They both have great pools with slides for the kids. You really can't go wrong either way.

It's horrible obsessing over it isnt it? Its making me mad! I *think* we made the right choice with SSR, just from the pics I think it does look more relaxing and I definitely like being able to walk to DTD even though we will have a car. I think the reason I am stressing so much is because I really dont want to get stuck in one of those sections that are in the boondocks. Im keeping my fingers crossed for Congress Park or the Springs!

We've stayed at both, and prefer OKW. The rooms are bigger, the views from the balcony are great (Pool or gold course), the walk to the bus stops is reasonable, and it is EXTREMELY quiet !!

Great resort...I highly recomend it.

Enjoy

Now that I think about it, we probably would prefer OKW. Because of the layout, the 1BR at OKW would be nicer than SSR due to the extra space and the general layout. Dumb things that bothered me at SSR included extremely loud toilets flushing in the night and motion lights that would light the bathroom at night whether I wanted them or not. OKW really makes me feel like I'm on vacation.

You made the right decision:thumbsup2 ......now relax and enjoy it:goodvibes

stayed at both

SSR - newer, DVC went over the line on this place and it shows. very, very fancy. You can walk to DDMP in around 5 minutes from Congress Park - longer from the other section.

OKW - love it my home resort. Definitely like the bigger rooms. It is more relaxed atmosphere. It is not in any way as fancy as SSR. but it is not surpose to be. OKW is like KW - down home - comfortable.

you can also walk to DDWS from OKW - go out building 55.

Stayed at both, we liked both. Neither one is a "mistake". Maybe you'll end up buying points, and stay in a DVC villa every visit. :cool1:

We own DVC and have points at both OKW (from way back when it was the only one) and did an add-on with SSR. We stayed at SSR prior to a cruise two years ago and we are going back next month for a few park days prior to our reunion cruise and we will be staying at OKW. OKW is larger and our preference. Our children are grown so the extra space is nice. I like having a dining table and chairs instead of the bench seating plus the kitchen is larger and easier for more people to work in (yes, we use the kitchen for breakfast as well as dinner). But, it isn't brand spanking new like SSR is but I have never had any issues with our accomodations being less than Disney perfection.

You really can't go wrong either way - and it may be a moot point as the Fodd & Wine Festival is going on and many resorts are sold out. This is pretty short notice for a switch.

Honestly both will probably be fine for the kids. My personal preference is OKW because I find the theming of SSR to be "cold" but that is a personal thing. The rooms at OKW are much larger, but really in the end with such young ones it won't make a difference. I wouldn't worry too much no matter what. Even though OKW is older, it has been refurb'd recently (sofa beds there are on par with SSR now). In the end just go with which one looks like your "cup of tea" They are veyr similar but very different in many ways.

We just sayted at SSR and really liked it. We were in the Grandstand section and it is pretty close to the front also. It has a nice new pool and is the first pickup on the bus route. Springs is the last pickup and on some days early in the moring people staying in Springs didn't make it on the bus. I believe Paddock and Carousel are the farthest from the front. Congress Park is also nice for the walk to DTD. We had a studio and my 16 & 12 girls thought the pullout was hard. They complained everyday about it. Your kids are young so they probably won't care. If we went DVC again I would probably go for OKW for the beds since the studio has two "real" beds.

OKW has no elevators in the buildings (meaning you will have to walk up the stairs maybe to the third floor) except for three buildings which are being set aside for families with special needs. SSR has elevators in each building. OKW has parking right outside your villa. SSR has very close parking, but one large parking lot for each section. Still close, just not as close as OKW. SSR is walking distance to DTD. You can walk from OKW, but it takes longer and the path is not lit at night.
