We are planning a trip for Dec. 08 and are wondering which people prefer..
SSR 2BR or OKW 2BR? I like that Downtown Disney is within walking distance from SSR, but you can take a ferry there from OKW, right? If we are able to get into OKW it would obviously be a points saver...is this worth it?
Please tell me which resort you prefer.

I prefer OKW. SSR has upscale decor, but I like the theme of OKW and I LOVE the extra space the OKW villas have. Also, if you are looking at walking distance, I suspect there are parts of OKW (South Point) where you can actually walk to DTD just as quickly as you can from SSR. The walking path goes behind building 55 and comes out near Cirque du Soliel. There is also the water taxi and the internal shuttle which goes from OKW to DTD on a loop.

I agree with Diane.

OKW's villas are HUGE by compared to SSR--or any others.

Easy access to DTD via ferry or walking or bus.

Of coures, we've owned at OKW for almost 11 years, so I'm a bit biased.

Thanks for your posts! Do you know how long it would take to walk to DTD from OKW, also how long does it take to get there by ferry?
One last thing....what requests would you make as far as the location of your room goes?

I truly love both of these resorts and would have to flip a coin as to where to stay. We have stayed several times at OKW and love the landscape and space of the villas, especially the balcony. As for SSR, both DH and I enjoy working out, going for walks/runs and a good massage, so we LOVE our home resort (SSR) and what it has to offer. The resort has a regal feel and the grounds are simply stunning.

Either way, enjoy a WONDERFUL stay. We went for the first time over Christmas last year and will do it again soon. It's just a gorgeous time to visit WDW.

Umm, have you actually walked that route Diane? It seemed waaaay longer than I anticipated in May. And I use wheels. All points from SSR were far shorter in distance.

From the closest building in South Point to West Side's entrance (near La Nouba) is 1 mile. The closest equivelant at SSR is the farthest Grandstand building to the Days of Christmas store in Marketplace... 1 mile.

The difference being at SSR you are walking through the resort and at OKW you are walking through a pathway around a golf course.
