SSR Lovers and Owners Part 4

Also, don't forget there's a boat option from Saratoga to Disney Springs. The boat launch is behind the Turf Club restaurant. if you walk from Congress Park to Disney Springs, you enter at the Marketplace section. If you're heading to The Landing area where most of the restaurants and bars are, the boat will take you straight across to the Landing dock. Can save you some time, or more walking. Of course, boats are dependent on weather and conditions to be operational.

I might be wrong but I think the only boat dock currently operating is at the marketplace side. So taking the boat is much longer than the walk from congress park.

Have they shut down the Landing docks? Last time I was there (it's been a year), they were still running Saratoga over to Landing. OKW and Port Orleans were going to Marketplace. And there was the Springs shuttle that went from Marketplace to Landing to West Side.

If the Saratoga boats are routing over to Marketplace dock, it might still be worth if for Grandstand, Carousel, and Springs folks who don't want the extra walk over to and through Congress Park, or dealing with the busses, but certainly not worth it for Congress Park people or much of Paddock who could just walk over.

I stay at Congress Park 99.9% of the time, so rarely use the boats, but did occasionally find it convenient if I was at the main building and wanted to get to West End or one of the restaurants - it was worth hopping the boat and taking it straight across to Landing.

The only Disney Springs boat dock currently in use is the one at the Marketplace. This has been true since the Covid closures.
Your information is out of date and confusing for newcomers. Please consider editing your posts.

I really thought it had been since Covid that they have only ran the boats from Saratoga (or any other resort) to the Marketplace.
I think it has to do with security. I don’t think there are security checkpoints at the other two locations.
Yet, can someone explain to me why, if you come from your resort by bus, you don't encounter security? Or at least, 2 months ago it was that way. But if you come in by boat, you do go thru security.

It’s security for Disney Springs and not the resort. You don’t go through security to get on the resort boats on the Sassagoula River.

ETA: Now that I see the response below, I see more of your point.

By bus you encounter dog security. The guard with the sniffer dog is always where the bus crowds come in. Guess one dog is as good as a metal detector.

Now I understand-I do always see the guard with the dog as I enter DS from the bus.
Funny story about the drug-sniffing dogs. They're very common where we live (on the Mexican border). When DS was in school, he had a friend whose father was a handler for drug sniffing dogs, and often the friend would have a pet when a drug sniffing dog wouldn't sniff right. They had one dog who failed because whenever he'd smell donuts, he'd give the alert. Once I heard that, I've been afraid that with my luck I'd get "the donut dog!"
