OK you SSR experts; another question.

I know getting the two lockoff rooms are a few more points per day than a 2BR, however, when you need to sleep up to 8, which is better IYO and why?

There is no difference in points for a dedicated or a lock-off 2BR. It is just a matter of personal preference. The dedicated 2BR will have two queens in the second BR and no exterior door. No kitchenette either. The lock-off will have one queen bed and a sleeper sofa, along with it's own entrance from outside and a kitchenette. Depending on the makeup of your group, you may or may not appreciate the extra entrance and/or the kitchenette.

This is the same at all DVC resorts, not just SSR. The lock-off also has it's own HVAC control in the studio/bedroom good of someone likes to sleep hot/cold separate from the rest of the party.

As mentioned there isn't a point difference if you're booking the lock-off as a 2BR. The difference would be if you booked a studio and a 1BR separately. But if you're looking to sleep 8 and it works to have 4 people in the 2nd BR I'd do the dedicated 2BR since it will have 2 queen beds vs a lock-off which would have the studio side as the 2nd bedroom and so 1 queen bed and a double sleeper sofa. With the Dedicated you'd then you'd have 2 in the king in the master and 2 on the queen sleeper in the living room plus the 4 in the 2 queens in the second bedroom.

Not only this, but if you book a 1BR and a studio separately (not a lock-off 2BR) there is a good chance they won't be near each other and maybe not even in the same building.

So when I make a reservation (either on line or with MS), I would specify either a 2 Bedroom lock off (which would be the Studio + 1 BR) or a dedicated 2 BR? I know requesting a particular area within a property is just that, a request, is getting either a lock-off or dedicated a request also or is that part of your reservation?

Thanks. I would not be making them separately to eliminate the possibility they would not be near each other.

They are booking categories and barring any rare time when a room might have to unexpectedly be taken out of service you will receive whichever you booked.

And you need to specify if you want a lock-off. If you don't, you will get a dedicated.

Again, the ONLY way you can be assured of having the villas together is to book a 2BR lock-off. Then it is one reservation, one confirmation, and one 2BR villa (consisting of a 1BR and a studio).

Sorry, I meant to say "at the same time" not "separately". Thanks to all !

FYI, lock-offs are sometimes in short supply depending on the resort. A lock-off as posted is a 1 bedroom and a studio combined. If members need studios, they will book the studios and only the 1 bedrooms will be left.
