We're going to be staying at SSR soon and I'm trying to decide on an area to request. We'd like to be relatively close to DTD (so we can walk there), but in a quiet area with a scenic view. I'm thinking of maybe the Paddock or Congress Park area, or maybe even Grandstand. We don't need to be close to a pool or to the bus stops since we'll have a car.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

We were there last week.. You do not want the Grandstand. So far from everything. I would recommend the Congress park area. It is close to Downtown Disney. really, it seems like nothing is close to anything. We stayed two nights in grandstand, then two nights BLT and back to SSR and stayed in the Springs area. I would NEVER stay anywhere except the Springs area. After walking in the parks all day, I need to be close to the restaurants and movie night, and bar. and Springs is the closest. We did love the resort.

I love the Congress Park buildings because they are close to DTD. I've requested DTD view 3 times and actually received it, the view at night, all lit up is very nice and relaxing. There's a quiet pool close by (laundry roomin it as well), and walking to and from downtown Disney is great exercise. I know the resort is widespread but the restaurant, boat docs and the main pool are only a 10 minute walk from Congress Park, very doable even with small children. Make sure to try the Turf Club, they have good primer rib and the ambiance is nice.

Congress Park is the shortest walk to the Marketplace side. If you're only going to the West End, I think Grandstand or Springs are a shorter walk.

I'd say the entire resort is a quiet area. All areas have some scenic views but they differ. Congress Park has DTD views, Grandstand has golf course views, and the Springs has some lake views (although our lake views was pretty obstructed by tress). Paddock has lake views also.

The southern-most Paddock buildings would be ok for walking to DTD, but others are way out of the way. I suggest Congress Park for your criteria. It's also a short enough walk to the main pool and restaurants. Driving to the main buildings for those things might not make much sense, as the available parking might not get you that much closer.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Sounds like Congress Park would suit us well! Thanks again!

I've stayed at SSR several times and I didn't know you could walk to the West side of DTD from SSR. Where is the path for this route?

Learn something new every day.

There's a bridge sort of behind the Turf Club that takes you on a path through the golf course and then back to a path that goes along the water/parking lot on West side. I'm not explaining this very well, but if you check out Google Earth you can see it. This bridge allows for a really nice walking path through DTD and SSR.

we always try to stay at Congress Park because its close to Marketplace, not far from boat launch (in fact both are really nice walks), very quiet area and you have another entrance enter/exit available onto DTD for the car.
