SSR- is the bus service really that bad?

I am staying at SSR for the first time this August. I was reading reviews on a different forum, and many people complained about the wait time for buses regularly being 45 minutes to an hour. Is this a common issue? Should I just rent a car? I hate the idea of wasting hours for the bus when I could be in the parks, or at least enjoying my hotel room or pool.

We don't frequently stay at SSR but when we have we have never had waits even close to that. It's usually been the very standard 20 minutes.

NO I have stayed there many times and I have only waited that long on a rare occasion. The normal wait times are 15-25 minutes. Buses will only take that long if there is an car wreck blocking a road or president obama is at the resort and trust me he loves the resort but when he comes to town every transport stops when he is 3 miles radius away even boats and monorails and sometimes sidewalks become impassable due to secret service shutting them down.

i would say the timings are between 20-25 minutes. i remember once having to wait over 30 minutes but that was due to technical problems.

I was there last week, and I would say for me it was between 5 and 10 minutes most of the time.

Only once was it 20 minutes: leaving MK mid-afternoon on a weekday, and I probably just missed a bus because no one was in line when I arrived at the bus stop.

Guess it depends on the time of year too, this is my home resort and when we go in Feb., the wait is only about 10 mins between buses. Also depends if there are wheelchairs or scooters that need to get on and off, this could delay a bus.

This is our home resort and rarely have we waited more than 20 minutes.:rolleyes1The complaints we regularlyt hear are that there are 5 stops at SSR. so if you get on at the firstr one, the springs or grandstand you are on for the full circuit.:sad2:

I think when some complain about bus waits they lump the leaving time from the parks at closing into the discussions.

All Disney buses at all resorts run on a schedule of an average of 20 minutes. Certainly it can vary but not very often.

Also for some reason people seem to think when they get the bus stop the bus is going to waiting for them and if the bus they wanted just pulled out, they have to wait the full cycle for it to come again.

We've stayed there twice and the service was no better or worse than any other resort. The difference of course is that you have to take it to all four parks. Only one morning last week did we wait a long time in the morning (along with a hundred people) when no buses showed for an extended time and the CM monitoring said, "I have no idea what dispatch is up to." And often two identical buses would pull up one behind the other.

The worst wait we had last week was 45 minutes YC to DD one afternoon. Driver blamed it on the traffic.

We stayed there at the beginning of December and had no problems with the buses. I think the longest wait we had was a DTD bus at one point but for the most part we had virtually no waits for the buses.
