First timers at SSR. Have a deluxe studio room booked. Just wondering: how far of a walk from the Grandstand to the Carriage House? Also, do all rooms have a balcony?

Thanks :)

Hello,

I just had my first stay at SSR a few weeks back and requested The Grandstand. I did this mainly for the proximity to The Carriage House and boat launch, both of which were only a short walk away. We were in the 8500 - 8800 building, which is the closest building in the section to the Carriage House. I would not hesitate to stay here again... we loved it!

One trick I will mention is the bus stops. The Grandstand bus stop is the first to be picked up, but the last to be dropped off. This means that on the way out of the resort, you have to hit all of the other bus stops before leaving for the park. However, on the way home, you are the very first to get dropped off, which is a nice perk after a long day at the park.

We learned that The Springs bus stop, which is not far away (directly accross from the Carriage House and High Rock Spring's Pool) is the last stop on the way out. So in the mornings after breakfast at Artist Pallete, we would simply walk right over to The Spring's bus stop when leaving for the day. This saved us probably 15 minutes each morning that would otherwise be spent riding around the resort to hit all of the other bus stops. Not the end of the world, but every minute is precious in WDW.

Have a wonderful trip, and be sure to post about your experience!

It is actually the first to be picked up and the first to be dropped off...and is how you described...at least for the theme park buses. The Downtown Disney bus takes a different route.

And to the OP, yes, all rooms have balconies.

unless like we found out if you are on first floor it is a patio. LOL

From the furthest building in the Grandstand section, the walk to Carriage House is maybe 8 minutes or so, walking fairly slowly...from the closest building, it's about 5 minutes...It's almost as close as Spring...

One note about the "trick" of boarding the bus to the parks at the Spring bus stop: if it's "rush hour" (right around park opening), buses are frequently full (or full-ish) by the time they get to the Spring bus stop...you might have to stand if you can get on at all. This is not a problem by an hour or so after the parks open, but can be an issue, especially during busy WDW seasons, at "rush hour." Just so you know...

Sorry, that's what I meant to type, but I think you understood what I was trying to say with my explanation :)
