Is May 15th.

My guide just returned my call (I thought she wouldn't be in until later this week so this was a big surprise and now I feel like an idiot for asking earlier) to go over financing and run our credit and I asked her how close they were to selling out SSR, and she said it should be completely sold out by May 15th.

I'm in SoCal and plan on attending the West Coast DVC party at the end of May. I spoke w/ my rep today and told her that I'd probably add on to my SSR at the party and she 1) told me it was going to be a great time to do so and 2) never mentioned that SSR is about to sell out. :confused3

Call me a cynic, but I'm not sure I'd take a time-share salesman at face value if they told me a resort was about to sell out and that I neeed to BUY NOW!

She never said I must buy now, I asked when they expect it to be completely sold out, she answered me with what is expected.

She also said that I would almost definite that I will get points at SSR even if I wait until May 15, so it wasn't like I needed to send the deposit right that second or anything.

...and I probably wouldn't take the word of anyone here either!

:lmao:

Best bet is to consult the bus and boat drivers.

My guide didn't mention it off hand or anything, I asked her outright when it was expected that the resort would sell out.

Considering how large SSR is, it sold fairly quickly, didn't it?

A couple of folks I've spoken to have mentioned the May 15th date--but its significance was that purchase incentives would be changing then. As with others, no mention of a sell-out on that date.

I tend to think that DVC would give members more of a heads-up a few months before a sell-out. It would be pretty bad form to suddenly tell people "sorry, we just sold the last of the points there."

Also, with the points being spread out over 8 different Use Years, they won't suddenly run out of everything at once. The actual sell-out may be spread over an extended period (6 months?) as supply and demand for certain Use Years fluctuates.

Okay...I'm with you guys. Sales people will be sales people and will use every angle, advantage or twist to close a deal! Can't say I blame them if I was paying my mortgage, MFs and adding on to my membership off of sales/commissions!

With that said, I called my guide a couple of months ago when I was thinking about adding on points. I told him I was leaning toward either HHI, OKW or VB because I already owned enough points at SSR. He said that was great and would help me out (of course he would!!!), but told me that DVC was expecting to sell out SSR in the spring or early summer if I was considering points there. I think they had 1 building left at that point in time.

Who knows...he could have qualified for a free trip or cruise with so many SSR sales or add-ons! :lmao: Anyway, it does lend credibility to the OP's guide's comments! :teacher:

When we were at SSR looking at the AKV models on April 10th we also inquired when it was going to be sold out and the fellow estimated July at the very latest so the OP is probably close.

Oh, I don't think there's any question that SSR will be sold out in a few months. It was back around January that they started declaring the final building into inventory.

If anything, May 15th may be a date when they stop offering incentives for SSR sales as is currently the case with all of the older resorts. Still, if that's true, it's pretty out-of-character for DVC to go without making any sort of announcement. For the past several years they have given current members advance notice of price increases and such. This would seem to be a similar situation if the $10 discount is being eliminated altogether.

ok, sorry, I'm a newbie to the DVC lingo

SSR is Saratoga Springs? Just a shot in the dark

How do oyu find out which resorts are sold out? My family is considering looking into DVC, probably my mother and I and some of our cousins....

Well, if it does sell out soon there will be lots of people trying to use resale that will be happy! :goodvibes

Our guide was "non-committal" with ending dates concerning incentives changing when we purchased last month. Basically told us they would change but did not hang her hat on a specific date.

I think some guides take different angles to close a sale, and ours took the no-pressure approach.

all resorts are technically "sold out" except for SSR and AKV.

however, DVC is constantly re-acquiring points by ROFRing cheap contracts or foreclosing on deadbeats...so if you prefer to stay at BCV, for example, you can still ask a DVC guide to buy in there...whether it is technically "sold out" or not. (most of their focus is selling the current resorts, though, so you may have to be clear that you're not willing to buy elsewhere.)

I brought a friend with me for a tour when we went down last summer and at that point the guide told us that SSR was almost sold out and would be done by the end of the year (2007). :confused3

fwiw, the first two floors of the 18th (and last) building (including both GV's) have been declared into inventory. The top two floors (both of which have fewer units than the first floor) have yet to be declared.

I have spoken to 2 different salespeople in the last week. I was told last week that SSR would be sold out in "early summer". 2 days ago, a different salesperson said it would be sold out in 5 or 6 weeks.

Obviously they can't know a true date because they don't know who will suddenly make a purchase for what number of points.

I bought 200 in AKV yesterday. Waiting for my box!!!! :cool1:

My guide called me a couple of weeks ago and told me about the incentives going on now and said they are in the "close out" phase with SSR which means it is expected to sell out soon. I asked when he expected it to sell out and he said no one knows for sure but they are predicting it to sell out in the next 90 days.
