We are going to SSR for 2 weeks in Dec. First time staying there. Any advise on where to stay?

We will have 2 small children.
Fave restaurant is WGP in DTD is that within walking distance?
Food service available and where to be closer?

Thanks!

I would try for either the New Grandstand Close to Westside of DTD ,carriage house and boat launch.

Or Congress park close to Marketplace DTD .

Now we walked many times from Congress to DTD but our DD is 13 so it's no big deal. With your little ones you might have to feel it out. But you can always boat or bus back to your section.

SSrs food is getting better but with DTD so close it's easy to head over there then to a park or hit DTD then back to SSR for some down time.

You can walk fairly easily to DTD from the Congress Park area. Congress Park is also a nice stroll from the main hospitality areas. The Springs area is the closest to the main buildings and the main pool and spa. SSR is a very big resort; very spread-out. There is also a watercraft (shared with OKW) that goes over to DTD and the West Side. WGP is considered the West Side; there is a WGP Express at DTD close to the Christmas store.

SSR itself has a "food court" of sorts and a sit-down restaurant. The food at the food court is okay, nothing special. We haven't tried the Turf Club, the sit-down place.

I did a 3 part photo walk of Saratoga Springs/DD http://www.mousesteps.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=24&Itemid=50

Congress Park will be closest to the Marketplace, a pretty easy walk over to WP and Earl of Sandwich.

There is also a walkway to the West Side/OKW that is open during the day - that is closer to the main building and further from Congress Park. WP is also on the West Side, though I know my AP discount is only good at the one at the Marketplace. There are also boats, of course. Anytime I've ever been to the fast food area at SS, it's been packed.

We just got back and I thought our building was a pretty good location. We were in the Paddock in building 6501-6836. Our unit was 6601, on the end, water view. It was a quick walk across the street to the Congress Park section (and the bus stop!) and also just a short walk to main building. We ate at the Turf Club and thought the food was very good and our server was excellent. We have a 3 y/o and 1 y/o and didn't think it too big of a deal to walk, but we did have their strollers with us.
