SSi check with no acceptance confirmation?

Today we got a check in the mail that looks like the income tac refund checks, it is addressed to myself for my daughter and in the lower lefthand corner it says SSI.

The check is for $30 which is what our social worker at the rehab facility said an SSI check would be while you were in a hospital setting. She said that after that, checks would depend on income.

So...we have never gotten an acceptance letter or call. I applied around a month ago and was fully expecting to be denied and to have to reapply, or for the acceptance to take months. I just spoke with someone about 3 weeks ago and she said that around 3 months post injury we would need to see a doctor to have them state if she as walking or not, and that is still a few weeks away (although it is not going to happen before then anyway).

Has anyone had this happen to them? I'm not sure what to think. I'm going to try and call on Monday, but we will be leaving for a few days to go to appointments that are 6 hours away.

That would not be out of the realm of possibility for the government.
Two things that might make a faster approval:

1) it sounds like you were working with the Social Worker, so you had the things that were needed to approve the claim.

2) it sounds like you were approved for something more temporary ( the information about checking back in a few weeks to see if she is walking).

I completely forgot about this thread!

It was a temporary approval because of the severity of her injury however last week we did get final approval.

And she started walking a bit as well. She can not stand herself up, and in most situations when she falls, she can't roll herself over or sit up, and she still has a lot of issues with walking (wants to go one way, body leads another way, very little stability, particularly if there is an uneven surface or something in the way), but she's walking. Sooner than what we had hoped.

Her right hand however, has shown virtually no improvement.
