Squitty's Christmas & Birthday trip Dec 2005 Day 2

Day 2 - Tuesday 13th Dec

After a really bad nights sleep, thankfully we only have 3 nights in this double bed. I was woken up by DH’s watch alarm going off at 2:45am, he had not set it up for FL time!!!!
I Eventually fell back to sleep.
Woke up again by DD’s alarm this time, she’d set it for 6am FL time. Then she put the bathroom light on so that we wouldn’t fall back to sleep! AS IF!!!!
We were downstairs having breakfast for 8am DD didn’t want any breakfast, so DH and I had a Danish and Orange juice. It was very nice, just
enough to get us through till dinner time.

Universal today!
We were on our way to Universal Studios for 8:15am. We wanted to try the Tom Tom Sat Nav that we’d hired for the holiday. It wasn’t picking up any satellites so DH had to get out of the car for it to find some, once it had found them that was it. So it was telling us to go one way and DH went the other. LOL
Got to the booths to pay for parking when I discovered I only had a $100 bill. So we decided to prefer park for $13, which would get us parking on the same level as the parks were on. We ended up parking in King Kong.
It might be on the same level as the parks but its still a long walk to the entrances. Again, the moving walkways come in very useful.

We text messaged DD to see where she was, she was in IOA and she said she would be over USF later on.

Went into US park with our 14 day tickets without any problems, we were told to sign the backs when we got a chance.

No wait for Shrek 4D:

A great ride but a little jerky! So much so that DH managed to do something to his neck, which stopped him riding any rides the rest of the day, (well longer than that!) he was in agony!
After Shrek DD and I decided to go on The Mummy:

What can I say, brilliant, excellent and fantastic! We were the only ones in the car and we were in the front row. OMG this is truly a amazing ride! We went straight back on and rode it again. This time we were in the 2nd row with 8 people in total. The photo was better this time so I took a photo of it with my mobile phone. It's not very good.

After this we decided to ride MIB. I have to say I won both DH and DD. So not to be beaten by a woman DH insisted that we rode it again. Straight back on, this time though we were on the opposite side and I have to say DH got a better score than me, even DD beat me that time. I blamed it on the change of sides!

Next we decided to ride E.T.

We had to choose the rides that didn’t jerk you about as DH’s neck was getting worse. E.T. was fun as always.

We were then going to go across to IOA when we spotted the Cheesecake factory bakery. Well we couldn’t resist we had just had a very small breakfast and were starting to feel hungry!
I had a piece of carrot cake and DH had a croissant with cheese and ham. DD just wanted a gingerbread man cookie. DD had a powerade drink and both DH and I had regular coffee’s. All of us really enjoyed the food here bill was $19.96

I text messaged DD to see where she was and she was just riding the Mummy. So we decided to stay in US. The Blues Brothers were due to start performing at 11am so decided to stay and watch them. We have always missed them on previous visits to US. This time we were adamant we were going to see them.

While waiting for the show to start:

Had a look around and seen this on the menu:

Had never heard of Newcastle Chicken before, don't know how you would tell, wonder if it was wearing a black & white scarf!
DD decided that she was going to ride the Mummy again. I forget now how many times she actually rode this ride today. DD1 and her DBF then came and watched the Blues Brothers with us, this was a really fun show. They did there own versions of Soul Man it was Snow Man things like that. They even made it snow!

After the show DH was in real agony with his neck, so DD1 said that she would take DD2 to watch Beetlejuice etc so that we could go and get DH something for the pain. So we made arrangements to meet at IOA, the Hulk at 2pm.
DD1 had bought the meal deal thing for $22.00 for a whole day, eat as much as you like at, which was good for both parks. So DD2 was feeling hungry now so she went and got her a slice of pizza.

We left the park and I had to drive the lovely car! Oh it’s a dream to drive, very nice.
We headed for Wal-Mart on Kirkman Rd I think.
We got some heat patches and some ear plugs for DD as she didn’t sleep with DH snoring last night!
DH was quite chilly so had a look for a sweatshirt, which they didn’t have any decent ones of. So as we were close to Prime Outlets (formely Belz) we decided to have a look there.
Adidas was the first port of call, saw some really nice sweatshirts in here, but thought we would have a quick look in the character warehouses. There was nothing in there, so came out and went back to Adidas outlet. One sweatshirt later and we were on our way!

Back to the hotel so DH could change and take some pain killers, eventually we were on our way back to IOA to meet the kids.

Took DD2 on the Hulk for her first time…

She loved it..
Next we went on Dr Doom…

She wasn’t too sure on this...but she stuck it out and rode it. Loved that one too.
Next was spiderman:

I waited outside with DH while everybody rode this.
We then had a burger and fries as we were feeling a bit peckish, courtesy of DD1's meal deal.
Then DD1 and her DBF decided to ride Blutos barges:

They had their ponchos, we never so didn’t ride it.
They came off and their feet were soaking wet.
Then we went to ride Duelling Dragons.

Ice first…excellent! We then encountered our longest wait of the day. 15 min for Fire. But it was well worth the wait.

It was getting late now, but DD2 wanted to ride the Hulk and Dr Doom another time.

DH & I just waited under the Hulk…

It was 5pm and we were starting to get tired. So we decided to call it a day. We were out of the park when DD2 asked who had her camera! Nobody had it, she had done the unthinkable and left it somewhere! But she couldn’t remember where she’d left it. Back into the park to back track where she’d been. While they did that we went to lost and found in the hope that somebody had handed it in. No luck there, but they did give us a card and said to call tomorrow to see if it had been handed in. I don’t think so! DD’s came back no luck there either.
The camera was brand new. She’d asked for one for Christmas and saying as we would be away for Christmas we decided to give her it beforehand so that she could get some photos of her holiday! She’d had the thing 2 days. We gave her it on the morning that we left for the airport. I know its only a camera but it annoyed us that she’d been so careless with it. She was upset.

We took DD1 and her DBF back to their hotel and went to Pizza Hut for a takeaway Pizza. DH was in agony still with his neck. Back to the hotel, ate the pizza. We decided then to try and see if we could get on the internet with our laptop in the room as we had asked how much it was and the receptionist said it was free!
So we plugged in the wireless card and we were indeed online. Had a quick look on the Dibb and checked our Amex Travellers Cheque card balance online, then came off.
Just incase it wasn’t free..LOL
Watched TV and fell asleep.
Tomorrow I don’t know what we are going to do, all depends on DH’s neck!

Another great day Michelle, sorry to hear that hubby's neck was hurting so much, I hope it got better over the holiday, and what a shame about your DD's camera (did she ever find it ?). Your photos are lovely too and I can only hope that you had time to check on the Disboards too when you were on your computer - LOL

We lost DD camera on our 1st visit to IOA. it was only a childrens camera but never turned up

Lovely report, I love Universal and Islands. I hope your DH's neck got better quickly and your daughter's camera was handed in. I hated it when I lost a Disney pin never mind losing a camera.

That meal deal DD1 got came in useful.
