I did not make any notes for trip reports so it is all from memory. Please bear this in mind. We knew when we booked this that it was going to be busy, so we planned not to go into the parks straight away.
The morning of the 17th April.
Woke up at 6am, did the final run around, making sure everything was ok for Natalie and that we had everything we needed. It was different this time as we usually are going round checking that everything is turned off and that all the windows are locked etc.
Our friend was picking us up at 7am, 6:55 and there was no sign of him so gave him a ring, no answer. He must be on his way! A few minutes later there he was, phew! Cases in the car closely followed by us and away we go. The fog is really bad this morning. Typical! You could not see your hand it was that bad.
Arrived at the airport in plenty of time. Check in not that bad. Seated altogether 24 G-H-J complete with a window seat for Stephanie. Plane was Airbus A330 3-3-3
Straight upstairs to check the times etc, no delay even with the fog.
Sat for about half and hour, as we didnt want our friend to have to pay loads for parking and he had to get back.
So started our way into Departures, Natalie got really upset and that upset us all. We told her we would ring her when we arrived.
Sitting in the departure lounge, when we get a call over the system would squitty please contact airport staff immediately! OMG all sorts were running around my head. Anyway it was our friend, he had managed to get himself on a flight leaving the next day and he wanted to know if Natalie would be able to come out with him?
So we had to ring Natalie and she said that she wanted to come out, but she had work etc The dogs couldnt get into the kennels until the Monday morning, so it was a no go. Kids eh!!!!
I think she had got herself upset with coming to see us off. She was OK by the time we had finished on the phone. She had said that she would do extra time at work to keep herself occupied. Yeah right!
Our flight was not till 10:50 so this was giving the fog a bit time to lift. By the time our flight was called it was all gone. Security was great, made you feel safe.
First impressions of Thomas Cook were good the plane was brand new, seat back TVs brilliant. Seemed to have a bit more legroom. There was a bottle of water for everyone.
We seemed to be sitting on the tarmac for ages. It was 11:15 when we got into the air.
The flight was great. As soon as we took off the green forms were passed round which I thought was good as you didnt have to panic getting them filled in near the end of the flight. I filled them in correctly the first time, no mistakes. Which was a first .Free headphones were also passed around, which you were told to keep for the return flight. If you didnt have them then there would be a charge of £2.75 for another set. The films were Harry Potter, Die Another Day, The Bourne Identity, Stuart Little 2, Ghost and Shrek.
So Stephanie was sorted with Harry Potter. I watched Ghost and Die another Day, with snippets of Harry Potter etc.
The food was fine. Nothing spectacular but nice. Stephanie had some lunchables, she cant stand the food on the plane.
Hit a few pockets of turbulence but that was it. Great flight!
Arrived at Sanford on time, straight off into immigration, no problems there. There were a few other planes in at the same time but the lines went very fast. Luckily the cases came round quickly so we were on our way to pick up the car in no time. Alamo is on the far side of the airport and every man and his dog seemed to be heading that way. A little while later! Neil came out and off we went to search for the car. We found it! What that! It was a Mitsubushi Lancer, there was no way that it was a compact, more like a economy. Anyway we opened it and there was a disgusting smell coming out from it. No thank you. Off Neil went back to Alamo. Another 20-30 minutes later he emerged. Off again, this time there was a Dodge Neon, thank you that will do nicely. It didnt have central locking or electric windows but it did have cruise control and a CD player!!! Neil seems to think they tried to give him the first one because he wouldnt upgrade.
We were here, the heat, the smell, the radio stations aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!
Neil had not gone down the 417 before so he wanted to try it. Straight forward instructions were given by DaveFM and we found the villa no problems. The first thing we did after getting the cases out of the car, was to go to Wal-Mart and buy a phone card. So that we could ring Natalie just to make sure she was ok after her traumatic morning. She was fine. Next we rang our friend, who was frantically running round trying to get ready for his flight in the morning. You thought we were late bookers!!
A trip to DTD was in order. So off we went. It was so busy, needless to say we didnt stay long. A quick look round and it was time to head off and go to bed.
If DTD was anything to go by then we were not going to go into the parks yet!
Tomorrow no plans
