Square footage on studios at BLT?!?

i called my guide today, not available; selected the option to speak to somebody else...CM indicated that the don't have any info & i'd have to address it directly to guide

hoping someone will be able to talk to their guide today & ask re the sq footages & as to the 'limited' rooftop viewing issue:wizard:

Yea they do look really small compared to other studios. I'll be calling my guide in a little while to get some prices for add-ons so I'll see what I can find out re: tiny studios.

It's seemed to me that every DVC that's been built has had smaller and smaller villas. The biggest shrinkage is the very first one, from OKW down. The AKV value stuidios are 312 sq.ft. and it's another 40 feet down (if I remember right) to the value hotels, which are 276 sq.ft. So it would be interesting to see how much they've shrunk these.

Eek. We think the BWV studios are plenty small at about 359 sq. ft. I'd hate to be in one any smaller for more than a night or two - for more points.

DisFlan

I was looking at the pictures and the virtual tour again, and am growing concerned about how close everything looks to the bed in both the studio and the master bedroom. I'm short, and I swear it looks like if I swing my legs out of bed, I'll smack them into the sofa (studio) or the chair in the master.

We have a call in to our guide to ask about this (and a few other things) before our paperwork is generated on Sunday. Everything else looks/sounds great to us, but if the rooms are significantly smaller than we thought, it could be a deal-breaker for us.

I'm waiting for that info too.

Is there any chance that "standard" is the room size rather than view?

Count me in as another who thought the BLT rooms look small. The bedroom furniture seems to have barely a foot between them and the nearby bed. I even noticed in the video clip I saw that members of the family shown had some sitting on the arm of a couch, as if there wasn't enough room anywhere else for them to sit. A bit concerning.

It's not entirely true that DVC has built progressively smaller villas, at least not studios. Yes, the AKV value studios are only 312 sq.ft., but the standard studios at Kidani are 366 sq.ft, which makes them second only to OKW at 390 sq.ft.

Here's the ranking for studio size (taken from another site's database):

SSR - 355 sq.ft.
VWL - 356 sq.ft.
BWV - 359 sq.ft.
BCV - 365 sq.ft.
AKV - 366 sq.ft. (Kidani)
OKW - 390 sq.ft.

Sure the Jambo house studios range from 316 - 365 (according to the members' website), but those were retrofitted into an existing structure, and they did create the value category because of the reduced square footage. I just don't think one can say building smaller villas is a DVC trend.

That being said, the pictures and virtual tour do make the studio look small, but as these are just either cgi or pictures of the models and not the actual units in BLT, I'll wait until I hear other information or see them for myself. I'm hoping to see something in my mailbox in the next couple of days, before actual sales start, that may answer some of these questions.

Some observations in addition to smaller room size:

1. The studio's design itself helps make the bedroom area small. The kitchenette, rather than being along one of the long walls like at other resorts, is its own separate room between and parallel to the bathroom and bedroom Also, the vanity/sink area (for all purposes) is right across from the kitchenette.

2. The 2BR (and thus 1BR) living room area is longer than the bedroom areas and has no porch although it has access to the the porch in the bedroom of the 1BR. That living room area looks to be somewhat close to the size of other resorts but since it is longer (by the porch-length) than the bedrooms, those bedrooms must be smaller.

I remember when DVD announced AKV and made a big deal of the larger rooms that would be at Kidani (larger 1BRs mainly and larger than all except OKW). DVD has been distinctly silent on room size for BLT

All studios have balconies, and see my post above for official room size info. :)

I thought you guys were exaggerating, but those studios look REALLY small! :scared1:
We just stayed in a studio at SSR and at AKV last month and it was tricky to find a place to put the coffee table thing and the sofa cushions, so a studio at BLT with all 3 of us would not be very comfortable! :scared:

It appears that the BLT Studios will be a little smaller than all DVC resorts except the AKVs at Jambo House, but the 1/2BR villas are larger than all except OKW, VB and HH.

Thanks.

So the studios at Jambo House are 316 and the ones that will be in Kidani are 355?

We stayed in a studio at Jambo House last May and it didn't seem that small. Are there different size studios at Jambo? We had a savanna view. So the BLT studios are even bigger than those? That makes me feel a tad better.

Only the small number of "value" point cost studios at Jambo are 316 (and thus the reason they are value point cost). All others are 355. Kidani will be 356.

The "value" studios in Jambo house average 316. The non-Value studios are larger.
