Which would you choose for a 5-night stay prior to a 4-night splurge at RPR? During that part of the trip we would be doing Seaworld, Busch, Kennedy Space Center and maybe Aquatica. Springhill has breakfast included and I don't think the castle does. Is Springhill fun for the kids? It says they have kids activities. Also, is it fairly quiet? How are the room sizes at each? i'm getting quotes of $71 for Springhill, $79 for DC (this is in late Aug.)

Thanks for any info.

Too funny - we're doing the same research! I'm looking for a (relatively inexpensive) place for us to stay the first couple nights of our tentatively-planned December 2010 trip - before we splurge on HRH. I found Springhill and am pretty excited about it. I like the convenient location, the newness of the hotel, the size of the room, and the free breakfast. We're thinking about booking the Seaworld package for the first night, which would get us 5 Seaworld tickets (3 adults and 2 children) along with a couple of other extras. For the second night, we'd book at the state government rate. After taking out the cost of the SW tickets (which we'd have to buy anyway), it would average ~$50/night. Not too bad.

I haven't stumbled upon Doubletree Castle yet. I'll have to take a look at that one.

I don't know anything on Springhill but if your like us and don't rent a car while we are there and depend on the hotels shuttles then you may not want the Doubletree Castle since they started charging $5.00 a person for thier shuttle service to the parks

We drove by the double tree castle durring our visit and it wasn't very close to Universal...It says that it is, and it is in the 'area' but it's definately not 'right next to Universal'. And we talked to someone else who stayed there and said that the doubletree was charging money (some hotels/resorts have actually started to, so be careful!!!!) to use the shuttle service! $5 PER PERSON PER DAY adds up. And I think that a lot of shuttles are actually cutting their hours- only three or four trips to the park and 3-4 to hotel from the parks each day- which would really limit your options as far as you choosing when you'd want to go and come back.
